the pup I rescued from the side of a highway three weeks ago is in his new home and well loved. but holy cow he freaks when they go to work, and destroys the walls and carpets and drapes trying to get out of the house after they leave. when they are home he is fine, not clingy or Velcro but seemingly perfectly well adjusted, maybe even a bit remote.
I know there must be a ton of threads on this, so direct me to them if you please, or we can discuss it again here.
He has an appropriate crate and they are keeping him in it while at work, but he’s very depressed when they get home, which is upsetting to his new mom and dad.
They started working with a local trainer the other night, and are exploring meds and various methods. It’s not something I know much about, and I’m curious.
The pup in question is around 4yo, with the potential heritage of rat terrier, Jack Russell, Italian greyhound or whippet and any other long legged, pointy nosed, deep chested small dog. he weighs 16 lbs and needs to gain a few lbs to be in good shape.
