Special D (Metall son)

As a Hanoverian breeder I am really not that familiar with this sire but have the opportunity to buy semen and quite like the way he looks.

Any info re semen, offspring qualities ect?? What kind of mare he does best with?

Thanks!

Talk to Alison at LaPrairieAire Warmbloods in Alberta. If I recall correctly, she tried with his frozen semen many times without success.

Cn smeone post a link? Approvals?

I’ve wondered about semen on this stallion also, especially since I have not heard of any frozen babies. Super nice stallion.

Lana Sneddon had a really nice Special D gelding at the MI Keuring this past year that I think she bred, so it would seem to work.

Anyone? Google comes up with 27 pages of nutrition and Mustang parts but no stallion.

WOW WOW and WOW

yummy

I bred a KWPN Special D - Gribaldi filly who was awarded ster at her mare grading.

She was a big substantial mare with a very easy laid back temperament. She could have had more length of leg and more freedom of the shoulder but had good paces with a very active hind leg.

She was a lovely girl

You can see her on her web page: http://www.camrosestud.org.uk/amazuluc.htm

The frozen semen of Special D is outstanding as long as you use the right amount of straws. I know him personelly and I never heard of bad semen before.

I also bred one: http://www.astridbolton.com/catalog/item/7346364/7641308.htm

Does anyone know what happened with this stallion? There was an announcement on Horses International website that he was sold to the U.S.A. Then there was a response to the announcement by the purchasers, Justine Wilson and Mike Rubin back in March 2013 stating that he would be at their training and show facility in Aiken, South Carolina. Did he ever make it to the States?

Yes, he is in Aiken. Haven’t seen him in person yet, but I know Justine has been riding him.

Special D is a quality stud who has produced many talented offspring. He won the Pavo Cup as a four year old, and has top placings in many stallion shows across Europe. For his stallion assessment he recieved 8.5 for walk, trot, canter, and talent for dressage. He produces a strong hind end, elegant head, rectangular body, and passes on his excellent character. He just produced the top KWPN 7yo bred to a Jost mare. He does best with a taller mare with a long front leg. Most of his foals have tremendous talent for pi/pa. He is now standing stud for the 2014 season at Breezy Hill South in Aiken, SC (www.breezyhillsouth.com) and will be competing in the FEI Lite Tour 2014.
