Spectating at Bromont

Having relocated to CT from NC, I realize now that I am only 5 1/2 hours from Bromont!

Seriously thinking of going up to watch this June. Any tips about requirements at the border, places to stay, etc. Anyone else going from the New England area?

(I know I can google helpful hints, but always nice to get tips from others who have done it already)

Can’t offer any tips but if you go, I’ll designate you official cheerleader. . .

Bromont is beautiful. Most places speak both French and English - fabulous food there.
There are hotels and Airbnb’s there, but I would reserve early as they book quickly.
Here is a website you can check out the Canadian Border crossing requirements: https://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/travel-voyage/menu-eng.html
Looking to see what others will say.

Oh, and the Bromont police are very good at hiding - so follow speed signs, no “roll throughs” at stop signs, and DO NOT use your phone while driving.
Even heard this at the rider briefing I attended

I think we will be going as well! But then, I live in Montreal, so it’s not much of a journey

Just be aware that AirBnB and the Province of QC are having a scuffle about licences. There was a fire in a shady AirBnB downtown Montreal that killed 8 people a few weeks ago and it’s prompting a big review of past rules. News said 75% of listings disappeared.

Hopefully you will make it up, it’s always a lovely relaxed time.

The town of Sutton is not far and has a small but charming downtown. There are some nice restaurants, place making bagels and a butcher and cheese store.

Plan your departure from the site carefully. Most vehicles leaving the site take the same route through the village to get back to the highway, so it can get VERY slow and backed up if you leave at the same time as everyone else. If you can plan an alternate route or aim to leave before or after most people, you’ll have a less frustrating drive (speaking from experience at the hunter/jumper shows there - I assume the same happens on the days with a lot of spectators for the eventing).

If you’re having trouble finding a reasonably priced hotel near Bromont, you can go as far as Granby to find accommodations as long as you’re not needing to pop back and forth to the hotel throughout the day.

Such great advice, thank you!

Having Carolina in my “quite literal” back yard was great. But really fun that I’m now 4 hours from MD and less than 6 from Bromont. It will be awesome to see some new and big events.

I can definitely be head cheerleader, lol. And super tips about housing and driving. If I can’t get it worked out I’ll plan earlier for next year.

Also, terrible about the fire!

Welcome to Area 1! Bromont is a super easy drive from here. The border crossing as never been an issue but we do pay attention to what you are allowed to bring in and out. We stay at the Hotel Bromont. Nothing fancy but clean and close. We spent our $$ on dinner out at several of the the fantastic restaurants all of which we would return too! Reservations are suggested!
