Years ago I had an app which gave real time meters per minute info and then I think saved it and made color coded map of general speeds in each segment. Equilab does the latter, and the paid portion shows top speed of each ride.
Is there a free app which shows how many mpm you are going at this very moment, or over the past minute??
I’ve used wahoo in the past when the battery died in my speed sensor on the carriage wheel (it’s a sister app to elemnt, both made by a cycling company that does some really high end cycling sensors, so I trust it a bit more than the random free apps out there)
Maybe just use a simple speedometer app and keep your mph in mind:
BN (350 mpm) = 13.1 mph
N (400 mpm) = 14.9 mph
T (450 mpm) = 16.8 mph
M (490 mpm) = 18.3 mph
P (520 mpm) = 19.4 mph
I (550 mpm) = 20.5 mph
This prompts me to ask a question, is there any pressure to move all eventing levels to metric? My assumption is that FEI levels are uniformly metric, but that too may be incorrect
Only because combined driving is totally on the metric system and I was surprised how quickly I gave up wondering what the km to miles conversions were and embraced it totally
I’d also be interested to know if there’s a relatively inexpensive heads up display that shows mph. I’ve seen glasses around $300 but for that price you’re better off learning your speed by heading to the gallop track with a watch.
They’re metric already.
Ah, so people are just converting to miles? (Referring to the chart above)
Yes, when they (officials) post the course distance and speed it’s always in meters or meters per minute. Jump heights are sometimes in feet and inches and sometimes in meters depending on who you’re talking to though.
