Spin Off: Best Custom Scrim Sheets for Showing

Because winter is here with bitter winds and frozen ground…it is clearly time to consider ordering a good custom scrim sheet for the summer shows. Caveat: it has to have a navy blue body.
On my list to look up: Integrity, Clothes Horse, Blue Ribbon, Saratoga Horse Works, Triple Crown.
Does anyone have any likes or dislikes with any of the manufacturers I have listed for scrims?
Are there any additional manufacturers I have missed?
One of these mfgs doesn’t seem to do a navy body, but I forget which.
Thanks!

Our barn’s scrims are Blue Ribbon with most people happy, but my experience was a bit less satisfying. The monogramming arrived at my house already a little bit undone. When I ordered, I didn’t have the best experience on the phone with the lady. Maybe I caught her on a bad day? That said, the actual scrim has held up well.

I’ve heard positive things about the Clothes Horse. They have good customer service and a nice product.

The Clothes Horse and Personalized Products. Great work and fabulous customer service!

Another vote for The Clothes Horse! I’ve been dealing with Katrina for over a decade. She has done custom coolers/scrims/rainsheets for me for my own personal barn colors and my trainers (latest ordered right after Thanksgiving and arrived Wellington in time for the start of the season). Always patient while I tweak this trim or that monogram. I wouldn’t go anywhere else.

Fourth vote for The Clothes Horse. Katrina and her team are great.

The Clothes Horse is marvelous and if their pricing suits your budget then they should be your first and only call.

My scrim came from Saratoga Horseworks about 10 years ago. I have some of their other products from the same time period as well. Looking at their website now, it’s a model they no longer carry; it looks like they only sell their “Signature” line. I have very much liked my scrim and it’s held up well, but I certainly didn’t pay $350 for it at the time and I wouldn’t even consider it now at the price point. That price includes a lot of bells and whistles, and if you are planning to order hip ornaments and all sorts of extras from The Clothes Horse, the pricing might work out the same way… but I’d still say order The Clothes Horse over them. I wouldn’t have any hesitation ordering from Saratoga again- I’ve very much liked their products- but in my experience The Clothes Horse tends to be better cut.

I also have Triple Crown clothing from 10 years ago, albeit not a scrim. I love their Irish knit. I’d have no hesitation going with them again.

If you wanted to expand your horizons past the ones you’ve listed here, look at Curvon- they manufacture Baker blankets and their custom products are manufactured in the US.

Wilsun custom has a new scrim fabric that I saw recently and it was fabulous. They can do it in many colors … worth a look IMO. They are so new they are not even on the website yet, but you can call and I am sure they would send you a sample swatch. That is what I’m ordering this year.

Oh Lucassb, I want to see that!

This is going to be a really stupid question but what exactly does a scrim sheet do / what is it for? I see them advertised all the time and never really know

Keep dust/dirt off without trapping warmth

V, when I get it I will try to remember to post a pic. The fabric is really awesome and IMO, Wilsun quality cannot be beat.

Lucassb…you made my day! I didn’t know that Wilsun was back in business. I used to love going to their old storefront and was always thrilled with their quality.

Charliezmom, glad to hear it. I feel the same way and was thrilled that they re-opened. The new shop is quite close to the old location, too. They have several new products that aren’t on the website yet, as well as some old favorites

Wow, had no idea Wilsun was back! I have an irish knit they made and it’s gorgeous.

And anther vote for the Clothes Horse.

I want Wilsun to bring back the terry cloth robe. That was the BEST.HORSE.CLOTHING.ITEM.EVER.

Wait, I thought Wilsun had become KR’s Customs? I had just assumed that KR’s Customs was now under new ownership and the Wilsun name was brought back. Or is my chronology wrong and/or are there gaps in my geologic record?

I would also love to see this scrim material!

Couldn’t resist looking at the website. At least one of the photos of their dog blankets is a stock photo lifted from the Dover catalog of a totally DIFFERENT dog blanket. I’m… kind of confused?!

The Wilsun brand has been purchased by a new owner; as far as I know they are unrelated to the KR’s customs people. They just had their (re) grand opening a couple of weeks ago, so I imagine they are still getting things up and running. WRT to the dog blankets… not sure about the Dover thing, but I have seen the blankets in the shop (and they are very cute!) Maybe they just personalize them (like the ClothesHorse does with Eskadron and Curvon/Baker products)… but that is just a guess.

Equitex has a beautiful line of custom blankets at a great price and offer more colors than any other custom blanket manufacturer out there. www.equitex.com

Rebecca you should probably disclose that you are an Equitex employee
