I want to revive this to let folks know about my new favorite bit. Per the recommendation of Brooke at Argento Eq on this board, I tried the Neue Schule Verbindend, in both a loose ring and universal/2-ring for my jumper. I’m 6 mo post partum, I ride 2 days a week (and that’s my only exercise, so I’m mildly weak) and my horse is huge with a weird mouth. We show him in a Pessoa Magic Pelham (google it, its rough looking but he loves it) and had been flatting him in a Mikmar D. I still was getting dragged around a bit in the Mikmar, especially on downward transitions. I just don’t have the strength that I used to and he’s not 100% fit.
Well, the transitions I get in this bit are amazing. I no longer get yanked out of the saddle during halts, etc. That I can effectively flat this horse in a loose ring is a huge success. I love the feel in both cheek pieces and I find him to be generally more willing to elevate through his poll and shoulder in these bits. When we got this horse, we started simple and threw every bit we owned at him - Waterford, Myles, happy mouth, sweet iron, etc etc. Nothing worked like these. Totally worth the money.
