Oh no, absolutely it doesn’t. That’s not what I meant at all!

I think the horse, rider, and open divisions in eventing do a better job of separating by experience.

If the rider is inexperienced, show rider.
If the horse is inexperienced, show horse.
If you are both experienced, show open.

This usually means the low level AA rider won’t have to compete against the professional or AA Grand Prix rider on their young horse. It also means the faux pros who teach up downs or the occasional low level rider don’t compete against the GP riders either.
