Spin off from breeches --Wide toed top quality paddock boots

For years I wore the Ariat Performer Pro. Now I find that I find that I like a wider toe boot, but they only make it in their Heritage line, which is not as comfortable, to say the least.

Does anyone make a top quality wide toe boot, Dansk did, but no longer does.

No answer, but I’d like to know too.

Sometimes you can find Blundstones (I’ve even found them on clearance on Sierra Trading Post), very wide in the toe, very well made.

I killed my Blundstones in about a year. Made for the outback not the PNW, I guess!

The Airiat H20 paddocks, which look a bit like Blundstones, have a wider toe than the “riding boot” style paddocks. For me, they are a lot more comfortable than the Blundstones, because they have more structure and support in the sole. But they don’t have the sleek riding boot look. They are great for schooling, great for riding, but aren’t the kind of paddocks that let you fake a dress boot for a show.

And so far mine are holding up better than the Blundstones did.

I haven’t been able to find any like that off the rack, so I have given up and just wear New Balance running shoes in extra wide around the barn. For riding, I had some custom tall boots made. It was a bit of a mess because the mom and pop shop was on the east coast and I had to do measurements/mail info/etc. They aren’t the best quality boots I’ve ever purchased (zipper broke within a few months and they were not willing to replace), I have some seams at the top that are coming apart, and they are definitely NOT pretty boots, they don’t fit very well in the ankle area (too big and bulky!). BUT, having said all that, my feet are VERY comfortable!!! So, for me, despite all of that and the fact that I will not be using that company again (more for the lack of customer service versus quality because the problems I have with the boots are fixable especially if I was local) it was worth it to have comfortable feetsies. I do know they make custom paddock boots as well, and the sample they sent me was beautiful. I’m willing to PM you the name if you wish to try them out, perhaps your experience will be less fraught with problems if you can visit them in person…???

I wear Rossi boots from Australia. Similar look to blundstones but they are still made by hand in Aus. Mine are two years old and look almost new. I’m not sure I could kill them if I wanted to.

Try the men’s Ariat Devon paddock boot. They last forever, have a narrower heal and a wider toe box.

I looked up the Rossi. Amazon has impressive reviews.

How is this a spinoff from discussing high waisted breeches? Wide toe…camel toe???

I wear these ones, but my feet are very small (though not narrow) if you have a larger shoe size, the unisex ones are likely available to you with all kinds of different leathers and sole profiles.

I bought from these folks and they were great to deal with and with the exchange rate the boots came to about $100. I’m going to order a black pair since finding brown half chaps is a bear.

When I needed wide toe boots when I broke my foot, I found that Boys/Youth paddock boots run wider than the Ladies. A size in a Ladies boot = 2 sizes smaller than the Boys/Mens.

A Ladies size 7 = a Boys size 5

A Ladies sz 8 = a Boys sz 6

A Ladies sz 9 = Mens sz 7

Dehner makes paddock boots in a variety of widths. Really nice leather, too.

Men’s sizes are usually cut wider in the toes.

Another vote for Rossi. I used to be a Blundstone girl, but after they moved production to Vietnam and the quality declined, I found an alternative. Rossis are very similar, but the quality is much better.

Have you tried switching out the insole in the Ariat RT Heritage boots? I have a pair and I just upgraded the insole in them and they’re much more comfortable that way. You can either upgrade with one of the Ariat insoles or another insole of your choice.

Thanks, I was just about to try that today.

Thank you so much for this thread. I was wondering too about new paddock boots and now I will try the Rossi. I have never heard of them before and I am a little skeptical about all the rave reviews. But I will give them a chance. I just ordered a pair.

I bought a pair of Ariat’s that had a rounded toe. Can’t remember the name, but they fit great.

That’s the Heritage RT and as previously mentioned, you can swap out the insoles to increase the comfort. Wish they made a round toe tall boot

I do this, my heritages have held strong and been super comfortable for years. I put in an insole that I had fitted for me at my local running store.
