Everything and Nothing
My gelding’s deathly afraid of chickens.
There were probably a hundred of them at the last barn I was at. We were there for over two years and he never got over it. First, we had to remove his hay feeder in the shelter and feed him on the ground because the chickens would sit in the feeder and my gelding simply would not eat if the chickens were in there. He would spook every ride in the arena because the chickens would lurk in the bushes or god forbid, enter the arena with us I tried having him chase the chickens, both in hand and under saddle, but it didn’t help. My current barn only has one hen, and we rarely see her, but most of his spooks at this barn can be attributed to that single hen:)
It took two years, but my mare finally is - not happy with, but will deal with - the sound of the velcro ripping away when you take the fly mask off.
It took two years…
Dang.
My Saddlebred’s weird fears are well documented on CoTH.

Why is my horse afraid of Holstein cows but not Angus?
Why is my horse afraid of purple wildflowers but not yellow?
Why is my horse afraid of white pickup trucks but not grey ones?
Why is my horse afraid of flocks of sea gulls but not Canadian geese?
The list goes on and on…[/QUOTE]

My OTTB is fine with almost everything on the trail, including dirt bikes flying by at mach speed spraying dirt while his trail riding buddy is flipping out.
However, any puddle on the trail will CONSUME him and must be avoided at ALL costs. Walking through a river up to his belly is not an issue though…
He will begrudgingly walk over tarps, but plastic grocery bags mean death in no uncertain terms. The bags that treats come in seem alright as long as they don’t touch him.
My Haflinger doesn’t mind black and tan shorthair dogs but longhair black and tan dogs are clearly horse eating bears.
Oh here’s another one… any jump that wasn’t in the same place earlier this week. Every time I rearrange my jump course we have at least one jump that I have to prove is a jump not a fence.
