I will miss Miller’s for the rest of my life.
Dover was great in its early years as was SmartPak.
Dressage extensions has been great, but weren’t they bought by someone?[/QUOTE]
I loved Millers - couldn’t wait for their catalog. Got the best jumping hackamore from them, still is the best one I’ve got, never seen another like it.
I thought Dover bought out Dressage Extension but still getting catalog from DE so maybe they kept their name?
Based upon a recommendation from you on here years ago, I’ve been referring people to her ever since. I contacted them once about a saddle repair and they got back to me quickly and the price was reasonable. I ended up not doing the repair as it was cosmetic, but I referred someone to them just a few weeks ago and showed them online photos of their work.

Riding warehouse. Super prompt (free!) delivery, great prices, quality stuff, easy returns.
I recently bought a couple of items from theconnectedrider.com. Nice things, and a bit different from the mainstream. Very easy to work with and special ordered me something that was out of stock at no extra charge.
My all time favorite is the Hitching Post out of KY and John. They aren’t local to me, but come to quite a few of the shows I go to and have been using them for 18 years now. Almost everybody at my barn does. If you order from them online, they work with you to make sure you get what you need. When I needed a new bridle for my tiny headed 16.2hh Tb, and wasn’t sure if I needed a cob or Horse size, they went and measured every single portion of the bridle I was getting in both sizes so I could figure out which one would work. And I have recommended them to a lot of people. Another one I like is A Bit More, they do a great job for me too. Of the big ones, I have never had a problem with Dover or Smart pak, but prefer to use the smaller ones were I get great customer service and know the owner.
Woody’s in Wellington for boots. I went to him for semi-custom dress boots, had no idea what brand/size/ anything I wanted, and he was incredibly patient with me. I haven’t been to Welly in a bit, so I don’t know if he’s still working, but I know tons of people who go to him and I’ve never heard a bad thing.
Equus Now! Seriously the best customer service of any store I’ve ever been to. I will go out of my way to order from them, just as they’ve gone out of their way to get stuff for me that they don’t normally care.
Big guys, Smartpak has never done me wrong.

Yet another vote for The Tack Room in Camden. Wonderful, helpful staff, and a beautiful store. Have been going there for years. Tack shopping heaven!

Dressage Extensions is now owned by Dover. I dislike the shipping rates, but like the products they carry. We also have a local Dover, but I am not a fan.
Will have to check out Teddy’s for brushes
Quillin’s in Kentucky has the finest quality halters and engraved plates.
I’m starting to lose the love for SmartPak, but still use them.
KL Select is outstanding.
Adam’s is great, as is VTO.
And of course, the incomparable Gary Mundy.
In Ontario…
Wilton Tack (they’re awesome!!)
Bahr’s
Vision Saddlery
The Greenhawk in Ottawa have always given me good customer service.
Pleasant Ridge is great for dealing with online (super fast shipping!), not so much in the store.
So far, I haven’t had any issues with Smartpak or Dover.
Farmhouse was really great when I ordered a semi-custom jacket from them. I ordered online but they called to check to make sure I understood what I was ordering and let me know the lead time (even though it was all on the website/email). It was nice of them to check in.
I love my “local” tack shop Bridles and Britches in Folsom, LA. When I lived in Louisiana they were about two hours away from me and now that I’m in Alabama, they are about two hours away! They have a mobile shop that comes to the shows in Pensacola and if I need anything at the shop, they’ll bring it over. Just really great service all around in the ten years I’ve dealt with them.
Some Etsy shops I like are ChicksDigVinyl and SweetAlyssa. I had great service and products from both of these shops.
Farmhouse tack-i am UK based and they worked with me to get the helmet i wanted, to the UK, at minimal cost. i would use them again in a heartbeat!

I recently had my Stubben rep out to assess my saddle fit, and Dutchess Bridle & Saddle is the company they sent my saddle out to for flocking adjustments. The service was through Stubben (I paid nothing), but they were prompt, efficient and my saddle came back beautiful. I’m in Massachusetts and they estimated 2 weeks for turnaround which was exactly how long it took. I was very happy with the process and my experience. Think it says a lot when a saddle maker sends out their custom saddles to this company.
