I never do these threads, but this one is speaking to me… She’s mentioned in another thread, but I’m afraid she might be getting lost in the mix.

Imagine her with a few more pounds on her! She looks just lovely!!
I don’t quite understand why quite a few of his horses end up at auction, but they do. I have one myself that I got from AC4H’s. His shoulders are all scared up and he will not pull anything heavier than a jog bike. He’s a nice horse but he’s all screwed up, so please be careful.
I’ve trained many a horse from there (shady maple) and almost all are what I call “light green” broke. So please be careful.

She’s found a home! I’m thrilled! Hackneys are endangered … and I love drafts. I suspect this is a cross that would make a great driving horse … or anything else.
Shady Maple Farm has 3 breeding strains for marketing: a) purebred Hackney Horses, b) Commercial Horses (Hackney Horse X draft) and c) further crossbreds for driving, dressage or over fences.
They run a production sale every spring in conjunction with another farm. All horses are generally started under saddle and in harness when they head through the production sale. Most end up in good homes, a few end up coming back on the market later as they did not suit the new owners either for that discipline or other reasons.
Due to the low demand for pure Hackney Horses they don’t do that cross much any more but concentrate on the Commercials (light drafts) and the further crossbreds that might have Cleveland Bay, TB or warmblood bloodlines added in.
I admire them for creating a marketing niche for their breeding program, allowing them to continue breeding the type of horses they like to produce.
