Spinoff: Saddle Pads w/ Long Spines

I was skimming through the “saddle pads you can’t live without” thread and realized I probably needed to start a separate post.

I recently switched from a 17.5" Meyer Selles saddle to a 17.5" Stubben saddle. And yet – none of my saddle pads now seem to be long enough.

Help me out – please recommend quality jumper pads with long spines. My collection needs a refresher!

Ogilvy. This is an 18" Stubben

Thanks Peggy! Is that the Ogilvy Profile Pad or the Ogilvy Baby Pad?

It’s the baby pad. No girth loops. I have zero trouble keeping it under the saddle as long as I make sure to have some of the pad pulled in front of the saddle.

Thanks for the recommendations!

Are there any thick, poofy-type saddle pads that have longer spines?

I’m not positive about the jumper cuts, but my Mattes dressage pad is fairly generous in the spine. They are the definition of fluffy

Maybe the Ogilvy friction free pad?

The Back on Track Nights pad and the Haze pads have longer spines!

I have two ogilvy profile pads that work great for my forward flap saddle.

The Anky jumper pad fits my 18.5 saddle well. They are poofier. The colours are different
The Ogilvy baby pads are great.
Ecogold jumper pads

I have a 17.5" Black Country that also requires a really long-spined pad. The Lemieux close contact pads work wonderfully for me. They’re expensive, but totally worth it IMO. I’ve thrown away all my other square pads.

This is my go-to as someone with a 17.5’’ and very forward flap saddle.

Now that said, if you want a little more structured poof, ogilvy’s jumper pads seem to have more oomph to them than the baby pads, complete with girth loops. OTOH, all my ogilvy baby pads are like 3+ years years old, so maybe they just seem floppier with age LOL.

I really wish Dover didn’t discontinue the Rider’s International extra long pads. I have a few and they are wonderful for large seats/forward flaps. I know Back On Track has a few that are a little longer in the spine, Equifit Essentials spine free pads, and I believe Toklat do as well.

LeMieux, for sure.

But I’m very fond of my contour-spined basic SmartPak pads. I have an 18" with an extra forward flap.
