Spinoff: Thoroughbred Beauty Contest

I was smart enough to know that Robbie was the horse of a lifetime when I had him. He was totally irreplaceable. So these days I have the pony of a lifetime

I  Robbie forever and ever. Whenever I think of the classic bay TB hunter, I think of him.

Aw, thanks. I always describe him as a Sam Savitt painting bought to life

Who are Robbie’s dam and sire?

@tarheelmd07 All you kids are gorgeous! And your brown ensemble is stunning

Even standing in a pasture covered in mud a tb is a picture of beauty and style. It’s the way they hold their head and neck while gazing into the distance.

His sire was Erin’s Isle (IRE) who is absolutely bred to the nines by Busted (GB) out of a Shantung (FRA) mare.

His dam was Royal Angelique by Diplomat Way. She was a Bridlewood mare. As I recall, she had 9 foals, 8 to race, 6 winners/6 black type (7 on the board, and that on nonwinner mare produced multiple black type winners)… andthentherewasrobbie  But to be fair, he was absolutely not bred for American MSW distances.

I wish I had known Lorenzo’s breeding. But I owned him in the very early days of the public internet. I don’t think there was a public database. I never wrote the Jockey Club to find out his breeding. His tattoo was legible. I just never got around to doing it. And I don’t remember his tattoo number anymore.

They definitely have the look of eagles!

He looks so kind. I hope I am not cursing the project.

I met Carnivalay a few times at Country Life Farm in my home town. I was a huge fan of his babies! All your pictures are gorgeous, I just wanted to mention Carny

Ooohh, liver chestnut. I LOVE that color! A beautiful guy!

Beautiful picture. I have ridden hunters but not currently. Maybe you can educate me. I always did auto release. When George Morris critiqued for COTH mag, he was all about an automatic release. Is that not a thing in hunters anymore? What do the hunter judge think these days? Thanks.

Thanks! (That one is a mare. :slightly_smiling_face:)

I’ve never seen a TB that color! Where did you find her?

My style was limited to staying out of his way and sticking that bascule. Between that and the fact it’s been a hot minute since I too showed hunters, I’m not good for any education of any value (that and when I WAS showing hunters I was clever enough not to step on that land mine ). But if you ever want to discuss the use of the outside rein in driving, I’m your girl
