So, I went trail riding in the woods with my sport boots on (like I normally do), but we didn’t realize after some major flooding a month or so ago all of the trail markers are torn off. We were lost in the woods for three hours until we let the horse’s heads go and they took us back to the trailer (and through thorns, brush, off a bluff, and up a ravine). What was supposed to be a four hour trail ride turned into an eight hour ride. Sometime during all of that my boots got COVERED in little burs. I want to cry just looking at them. Throwing them away is OUT of question. They are too damn expensive. Any ideas on how to get the burs off without picking them off one by one??? Any ideas welcome
I would start with tape and remove as many burrs as you can before picking at them individually.
I will try this tomorrow! I am just not sure how well it will work. They are stuck in deep
Try a slicker dog brush.
Nothing more sad than a poodle full of those little burrs.
A slicker brush makes short time of getting them off without hurting anything.
Here are some, Petsmart, Walmart, most such stores have some for about half that price here:

I think it may be worth a try on those boots?
I have one very similar in design, it has the same wire needles. What the tape doesn’t get off, I will try it. Also, I will report back if the slicker caused the boot any damage.
The stickers probably will poke through the top layer of fabric on the boot and pull some of the fibers out if you use that wire brush…ask me how I know…
Look on the bright side, least you did not get a burr working up the inside of the boot rubbing a hole in the horse’s skin…know all about that too. One of several reasons I quit using them.
I’m stubborn enough I’d sit there and pick them off one by one to cause minimal damage to the boot.
They do make boot covers that you might consider in the future, if you are adamant about wearing sport boots while trail riding.
