Has anyone used both of these blankets and have opinions on differences/preference? The SI is SO HEAVY. Any idea how much the AM weighs? (Not interested in Bemer due to MLM). Thank you!
I have a Combi Pro that I bought as a reconditioned unitā¦but have never had the other, so canāt really compare.
The Combi is also very heavy (think 450g winter blanket with hood weight). I do love the Combiā¦and it has held up really well, especially as I didnāt buy it new. Last year I did have to buy a new battery as the one it came with wasnāt holding a charge. They were very helpful as a company as I wanted to change some of the programmed settings (I am a PT so was targeting some different treatment options)ā¦and they gave me the instructions for how to do that.
Itās held up really wellā¦and the horses like it. My one gelding loved the PEMF. My mare doesnāt like the straight PEMF, but she does love more of the massage feature. Itās pretty simple to operate.
Thank you! Can you estimate weight? Iāve never had a 450g with a hood. The SI is 24# and very bulky. Iām waiting to hear back from ActivoMed.
Probably pretty similar to the SIā¦I would say 20-25lbs and bulky. Iāve found a way that I fold it over so that I can manage to get it on with the first attempt!
So, I own an older (probably 6/7 years old by now) Activo Med Combined II blanket (PEMF and Massage). When I bought it new it was the latest and ādid the stifles, tooā.
Anyway, I told the sales agent when I tried it outā¦if I canāt lift it; I donāt want it. (Years ago, I considered the Centurion blanket and the horses started running to the back of their stalls when they saw me coming because I basically had to throw it on top of them it was so heavy. Sent it back after 5 days.)
Is the Activo Med light and easy; not really, but I am able to get it up and down without too much problem. I would say the hardest thing is folding it up correctly, putting it in and getting it out of the bag so that you put it on the horse once and unfold it correctly so that you donāt have to reposition it or spin it around so itās on the horse the correct way. (But this is probably true with every PEMF blanket.) Itās always nice when I have some assistance putting it on. Recharging it is easy. My horses seem to really like it.
The SI models look heavy. I also elected the AM model because of summer heat. It has mesh on it (also making it lighter). In the real heat of the summer, I donāt use my blanket (too hot in the car to store it, too hot on the horse to wear).
You could check out the āKloudā - apparently made by the same guy that invented Bemer. The fit is a little strange but the technology appears to check out. It comes with an app that has āprogramsā depending on what youāre looking to achieve.
Thanksā¦I just looked it up and the phrasing on the website sounded very ācheesyā and then, sure enough, another MLM sales approach. Sigh. Thanks for letting me know about it, though.
