Hilltop Farm is excited to be welcoming Christian Schacht for a two-day seminar December 1-2, 2012 that will focus on equine conformation in combination with the theory and history of breeding the modern sport horse. The first day of the seminar will focus on the conformation of the sport horse and how structure effects what career your horse is best suited towards and how he performs. Sunday will be geared towards breeders, as Dr. Schacht will discuss some of history of sport horse bloodlines, considerations when breeding for the specialist vs overall athlete, and tips for breeders developing their ongoing evaluations of their own broodmares and breeding programs. Each day will include a classroom presentation and discussion as well as live horse evaluations. Lunch will be provided if registered before November 21.
Christian Schacht is a fourth generation equestrian and has extensive experience breeding sport horses as well as competing through Prix St. Georges and 1.4 m in show jumping. Dr. Schacht holds a FEI judging license for jumping and dressage license in Germany up to I1 and judges competitions across Europe. In 1993 he received his degree from the famous vet school at Hannover and during his stay at the university he worked as an auction rider, winning the German Championship for student riders two times. Upon graduation, he became professional rider earning the Steensbeck medal. In 1999 he obtained three master degrees issued by the German government in riding, breeding and management of horses. Since 2006 he has been the Breeding Director of the ISR/Oldenburg of North America, the largest organization of its kind in the US. He has published several books and is well known international speaker, traveling across the world for clinics, judging, and speeches.
