I’m on the hunt for a comfortable, firm hold sports bra for my 38 B self. I have a Nike high impact that I like but it’s not ideal for long wear or shape. I see lots of threads for the bigger ladies, so hoping for suggestions from those in my shoes. It’s expensive to buy and try so share your favorites!
Go get fit by a pro. Fit is everything, and rarely are women buying the correct size. You buy a 38B, but I might suggest 34F. You need to be open to sizes you would not pick for yourself, and know a firmer band is what gives the support and hold.
If you happen to be in NJ, I’m doing a fit event at Branchburg Dover next Sunday
Brooks juno. You won’t regret it.
AliCat- I so wish I were closer, but I’m in the Portland Oregon area. Know a fitter out here? I read your article about fitting and it was so informative!
Thank you!
I’ve had so many riders reach out to me, I even got to meet up and help some in Wellington last week.
The Pencil Test is very well known and respected in the specialty fitter world, I have met them at a gala for the top stores in North America. They might be more focused on full busts, so also call Just Like A Woman (also Portland). I don’t know them personally, but they carry good brands, specifically Anita (one of the brands featured in my article).
I would really go the fit route because buying the same size in multiple styles isn’t going to get better results if what you actually need is a size adjustment. Keep in mind breasts are very individual and you can’t always go by a measuring tape. You can “measure” the same size as your best friend, and not find the same bras comfortable due to shape, density, etc.
Keep us updated!
I really like Shefit! The band and straps are fully adjustable so you get a custom fit. It’s great to be able to make even tiny adjustments for days when you feel like you need more support.
I got one of these in sale and I LOVE it. I’m a pretty small rib cage a-b cup…

This is the greatest bra I’ve ever worn.
Yes, this. I also have some of the Fiona bras from Brooks and they aren’t bad either.
Can you please link to AliCat’s article? Thanks!
Slightly off topic, but- people actually care about having their boobs look good in a sports bra? I like buying cute bras, don’t get me wrong, but I’ve never once considered my shape in them. I care more about comfort and performance. I didn’t know I had to have perky, nicely shaped boobs while I workout too.
Great article! Do you mind if I pm you?
Sure.
Reebok and lululemon
OP: go to Nordstrom, they have bra fitters for free.
I wear a 34B in most brands. For riding, I really like the Bali ComfortFlex bra (style 3488). https://www.onehanesplace.com/shop/onehanesplace/bali-wirefree-bra-24636?fromSearchResult=true This bra has a back closure, and I wear a small. It provides plenty of support - much more than a regular bra. It’s also much more supportive than many of the “light support” sports bras.
I also have a Reebok high impact sports bra.I don’t remember the model. It has great support (more than the Bali) but isn’t as easy to put on and take off as the Bali bra.
While I am a larger chested lady, I’d second Shefit bras. The ability to change the fit is amazing, and they seem to be popular with everyone in every size! They’re comfortable, too. I can happily wear one from the barn to work and at home for another couple hours and forget I have the thing on!
I second this. These people know what they’re doing.
I’m very flat chested as well and I have been using the Champion C9 bras from Target lately - I quite like them for riding and working out.
