Spruce Meadows Live Feed:Saturday, 6/15 @ 4:30 PM EST Final Olympic Observation Event

Team: Rich, Beezie, Reed, McClain.

So did they completely ditch the concept of a short list? Any mention of the alternate?

Congratulations to Rich Fellers, Reed Kessler, Beezie Madden and McLain Ward, the 2012 U.S. Olympic Team!

From the way this is worded, this is the team.

Charlie is alternate. I’m happy.

He is?? REALLY??? If true, that’s AWESOME!

Equifit says so on Facebook–I don’t know where it’s officially written, since USEF, COTH etc, haven’t put out anything on Facebook, Twitter or their websites, but several other professionals commented, so I think it’s probably true.

Holy cow. I love this team!! USA USA USA!

IMO, that was the only possibility for the team. Not that others are not of great quality, but to name somene else would mean leaving one of these off the list, and these 4 deserve to be there.

Good for Charlie, rising from 36th on the list (after missing the classes in WEF) and rising to 5th. Well done!

Did they happen to say what horses Beezie and Reed were chosen with? I assume Via Volo for Beezie…

Lord Helpus- I agree that this was the team I was hoping for, but it is show jumping, and the politics of things can change everything. I would not have been that surprised if Reed/Charlie/Rich were not on the team, and NOT because they didn’t deserve to be there…I would have been disappointed, but not surprised.

All the best to all of them, and their horses.

Do we know yet if Reed was chosen with Cylana or Mika? Also is there only one alternate?

Oh, bummer. I wish they would just announce the actual team. Reed better be on it.

Isn’t the top 4 pretty much the team with the 5th ranked rider the alternate? If that’s not the case why is George telling Reed that she made the team?

That is the team; the top four with the fifth as the alternate.

I thought those top 11 pairs were all flying over, competing once more, then the final team will be announced on the 6th. Or will the top 5 just fly over.

From what was announced earlier though through Equifit, it seemed like the final team was announced. The team technically is not final until the 6th, so I dunno.

The short list with a final selection at a later date was more what I expected today. We’ll see how it plays out in the next few weeks.

Congrats to everybody on the list!
