Spruce Meadows Live Feed:Saturday, 6/15 @ 4:30 PM EST Final Olympic Observation Event

I’m pretty sure she can only pick one horse. It’s going to be a tough call for her. Both horses are really nice![/QUOTE]

She has been with Mika for a while now, so she is more familiar with how he acts, performs, etc. However, she seems pretty comfortable with both horses. It will be a tough call for her but she should just be estatic how well both of her horses have performed throughout the whole observation process.

Can anyone direct me to a final results page? I had to stop watching right after Reed’s second clear round, and missed the jump off!

True but she’s said Cylana is more rideable. As someone else said, it will be tough because unless they have a faultless performance there will always be the nagging feeling that they should have gone with the other mount. Although in the grand scheme of things its a good problem to have!

I missed this competition and have to go look for a video…

Is there a replay anywhere? Of Reed and Rich’s rides?

I’m sure USEFnetwork will have them up soon.

When will they announce the team? IMHO Reed better have a spot.

I don’t think they announce “the team” right away. I believe they announce a short list. Those on the short list will go to some shows in Europe, and “the team” will be picked from the short list closer to the Olympics.

Ok, well when will they announce the short list?

When they make up their minds, I’d imagine.

Haha good one!

I seem to remember that the short list was to be announced today. They announced the dressage shortlist earlier today, so it’s quite possible that they are prepping the press release for the jumpers now or still hunkering down in some ‘top secret’ location to make the decisions.

It is is worth remembering that McLain Ward is still recovering from his shattered kneecap, and the interview he did for CBC last week suggested that he’s still riding in some pain. Given his experience and past Olympic record plus the nearly two months more of healing time before the Olympics, I would suspect that the selection committee might take his knee into consideration.

I saw some of the classes on the opening day of the first Spruce Meadows event this year, and was mind boggled by how beautfully McLain rode despite being just months out of kneecap in 20+ pieces.

Tomorrow (Sunday.)

Here are the complete horse/rider rankings.

Who would YOU pick?

I would loff to see: Fellers, Madden, Ward (yes he’s back on my list, he has ridden well) and Kessler. I don’t have much preference as to alternate: (ETA: so long as it’s not Mario) - Farrington, Kraut or Engle would be fine by me.

Sadly I don’t think this will happen, but it’s who I’d pick!

I can’t imagine McLain’s knee would be much of an issue to the selection committee at this point.

He demonstrated he could ride and win the GP at his first show back a solid month ago, and he showed it wasn’t a fluke by winning the GP again the following week, and again at Devon.

If it still hurts, you’d never know it from watching him ride.

My dream team:

  1. Rich/Flexible
  2. Reed/Cylana
  3. Beezie/ Via Volo
  4. Mclain/ Antares

Alternates

  1. Margie/Indigo
  2. Reed/Mika
  3. Beezie/Simon
  4. Kent/Uceko

Could Reed be on the team with Cylana and an alternate with Mika? If so, I like the idea of that. She’s definitely riding both horses well enough to warrant a spot!

I agree with your lists complete though.

Completely agree with your choices, I’d love to see Fellers, Madden, Ward and Kessler.

Could this actually BE??? Agreement on a COTH thread???!!!

I was thinking about it earlier how people say Reed is too young, but the girls that compete at the Olympics for gymnastics are her age or sometimes younger. Reed has more than proven that she is major competition seeing how she has outridden many of the BNR that have been competing at the top level for years. She is very, very mature as well and has been great through the whole selection trials. While she may have never competed at the Pan Am Games, etc, she doing have plenty of international experience over in Europe.

I would also love to see the team be Rich, McLain, Beezie, and Reed!
