Spruce Meadows Masters

I am planning on attending the Masters this summer for the first time and am looking for some ticketing advice. I see that there are, generally, two options - rush and reserved - any recommendations? I plan on attending Saturday and Sunday, which I understand will busier than the rest of the week. This, of course, makes me think that I should get reserved seats, but I have heard that this isn’t necessary and that rush seating is just as good, if not better. I am all for the better deal, but, above all, I want seats with optimal viewing potential. Any help and/or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Sat and Sunday will be your huge days, but what a fun event to attend. The trade fair is great. The stands are packed. There’s not much of an atmosphere like it. If you can get a seat in the southwest grand stand, I recommend. A ton of riders are within ear shot over there, and its super fun to sit around them and their families.

They always said it was “sold out” on Sat and Sunday, but when I was there, there were seats. I was there with a saddle company though, so we just stood near kiss and cry near the clock and THAT was an experience.

If you’re worried about seats. Get the reserved. If you wouldn’t mind standing or finding one, I’d just go rush if it was more budget friendly. But bring spending money. The food is good. The vendors are fun. I LOVE SPRUCE.

As someone who goes every year and lives across the street, the best views are in the main grandstand (you’ll see the entire ring but it’s bench type seating), the most comfy seats in the large grandstand at the end (not a bad view but you’re looking at the ring from an end, but the seats are padded)…both of these will require reservations for the big Saturday and Sunday classes! I highly recommend getting your seats reserved. If the weather is nice, and right now the forecast is saying it will be, there will be around 70,000 people in the arena…in order to get a non reserved seat, you will have to be there about 8am, put your blankets down (either on the grass or if you’re lucky on a non reserved seat) and then go walk around until the classes start. If you do this, nobody will move or sit on your blanket…it’s just an “unwritten code” that everyone abides by…as long as the spot you’ve picked doesn’t turn into “reserved seating” later in the day! If you’d prefer not to do this, reserve a seat…this is what I do…plus if it does rain, (or is ridiculously hot) you’ll be under cover !

For food, do not miss the Dutch booth…seriously…little Dutch pancakes (Poffertjes) smothered in butter and icing sugar, a plate for $5…oh I cannot wait! But again, get there early, the line up for these gets HUGE!

Also, after the last class on Sunday, head over to Timefaults Pub over by the barns …always a good rowdy time! Good strong drinks, fairly cheap beer, pub food and really surprisingly good fish tacos!

Calumscott…did you enjoy your first Masters tournament? I hope you made it too the “Time Faults Pub” today… Beezie came after her win!!!

Did she buy a round for everyone? Lol.

Lol nope (or not that I know of, we left 15 mins later, sadly not as long as a night as we usually have there hahahahahaha)…but there was a huge cheer when she walked through…first time I’ve ever seen her there!

Where is the Masters recorded?

I don’t know where to see the round in the U.S. :frowning:

Here are some nice photos of Beezie and Darry Lou; https://www.worldofshowjumping.com/Rolex-Grand-Slam-events/Magic-moments-as-Beezie-Madden-and-Darry-Lou-win-the-CP-International-presented-by-Rolex.html

^^^ - thanks.

Anybody got the statistics of the Devils Dyke - clears vs. poles/stops?

Thanks! She is always such a sympathetic rider.

It’s nice to see that Eric is feeling well enough to ride in the big show.

What a partnership. See how he came back to her when she called him, after the huge double oxer-liverpool line with the verticals ahead? Just wonderful!

They only use the dyke for derby classes so it wasn’t used this week! But as far as I know there is no stats kept…that would be a huge page as it’s been in use for a lot of years!!!
