Spur issues

Technical question. My boots have a lovely spur rest that is actually a groove, rather than just a shelf. Love it. Left spur is great, stays in the groove like it should. Rt spur pulls up out of the groove every time. What do I adjust to keep it where it belongs?

Perhaps ask yourself how/if you use your right leg differently than your left?

Have you tried just bending it a little so it has a tighter fit? I had a similar problem where one spur fit perfectly and the other was a little big, I just pinched it in until it was workable.

This is likely happening; this can also take a significant amount of time to fix because horses aren’t necessarily ambidextrous nor are humans–and then it’s a weird puzzle of figuring out how to get both anatomies working harmoniously despite each’s deficiencies LOL.

For me (as I go on the very long journey of trying to work with both my body and my horse’s body having the same weak side), I switched spur straps years ago and found that makes a world of difference in getting them to stay in place. Usually when the spur is going up too much, it means I need to shorten the spur strap on the underside of the boot to help hold it down more.

These spur straps do the trick: https://www.farmhousetack.com/products/nylon-braided-spur-straps?variant=34485493366933&currency=USD&utm_medium=product_sync&utm_source=google&utm_content=sag_organic&utm_campaign=sag_organic&gclid=Cj0KCQjwm66pBhDQARIsALIR2zBf4Z-olqaSO0Ek8lvAvmSp77wxkOH0XGk_crP_7_Z2zGslai5UobQaAtA7EALw_wcB
