Spur mark, but not actually a spur mark healing problems

Hi all!
First off I do not use spurs on this horse. What I have going on is a horse on the bottom of the herd that has some scratches. One scratch in right where my foot goes. My last ride I have rubbed the wound open and it looks like a bad spur mark. Open wound and not pretty. Bar not riding till the wound closes, because I have a show next week, I was hoping someone had a suggestion on getting it closed and healed up?
I have used ointment and doctored it but am worried that it will just open up again.
I’m sorry if this is covered in another post. I am inadequate in my searching skills. Thanks!

How big of a wound are you dealing with right now?

If it’s down by your heel you could try riding with your stirrups up a few holes for the next week? It is probably going to continue opening up until it has days or a week + without irritation.

I’m going to say its about 1/2 inch wide. I didn’t think about shortening the stirups. I will definitely try that.

alushield spray bandage would help dry and protect it, but looks like silver spray paint

Also try one of the belly bands, though with an open wound I would probably add a non-stick pad their first.
