Spurs

Is this a soft spur? I want something soft but effective. http://www.stuebben.com/start.php?lg=gbgb&id=772&top=2&top2=624&ukat=1874

No its metal, its hard.:stuck_out_tongue:

In all seriousness though, it’s not a nub nor is it two inches long. It should be ‘soft’ so long your legs are ‘soft’. If you want a barely anything there spur, get a little nub.

ETA: I like the round ball spurs (listed as a ‘soft spurs’ on Stubben)

^ I have those Stubben “soft spurs” myself. Like them a lot.

Smooth ball roller spurs are great. Had to switch to a pair because a sensitive imported dressage horse I was riding was getting bad rubs from my regular spurs.

I miss old fashioned hammer heads. I suppose the new roller ball type spurs have taken over.

Was just a great shape with some oomph but no poke.

My hammer heads are my favorite spurs for my big, giant plug of a hunter. I use smooth/pointed rowels at clinics or near the end of a show when I need some more oomph, but the hammer heads are a great every day spur!

I have a huge collection of all types of spurs, and my hammer heads are my go-to on anything that actually needs a spur.

It also depends on how your leg falls on this horse. You want enough control to keep the spurs from ever touching accidentally, but you want to be able to use them easily without messing with your leg position. A nub of a spur you have to fully turn your toe out and bring your heel up to touch is far more disruptive if that’s how your leg and your horse fit.
