She did better tonight & didn’t move at all.
I’ve been practicing stand these past few days. When we got home from our drive this eve. I asked her to stand in 4 different places for 3-5 mns. each. She did really well keeping her feet in place, but she was tossing her head a lot, which makes me think she was not at all pleased.
Don’t know what to do if anything about that show of temper, but for right now, I’m just going to work on the feet.
When crosstied and squared up, I began pushing/pulling on the cart & picking it up in the tugs, setting it back down, etc. Lots of stuff. If she moved a foot, I tapped it and she put it back in place. When I pulled the cart out, she just stood. I’m going to continue that desensativity training before moving the cart out till she’s really solid…
This was not our best drive. She seemed to be full of energy from being corralled and stalled for the past 2 days. Not like she wanted to run, but looking around and slightly spooky energy. Oh, we had a spook in place that was almost like a sliding stop, but it only lasted a second. There was a big, long tar-black tire mark coming out of a driveway and going up the road about 50’. I’m sure she never saw one before. It was OK when it was ahead, but when she looked down and saw it at her feet, she stopped dead for a second before going on.
