Squish/Simke: How many mg/kg Imodium for dog?

No, these were the symptoms prior to surgery. Only difference post op is that his appetite is back. But he’s getting significantly stinkier food now and I think that helps.

Never mucous, never blood. Nothing like that.

The endosorb arrived this afternoon. So going to start that tonight.

I’m not comfortable boarding him at the new vet. They really don’t have a good facility for that and no one is there overnight so not much good to me. The accidents only happen overnight. During the day, I get him out enough.

BUT, younger dog has started peeing and pooping in the house now because I think he thinks it’s fine.

I’ll look at the RR link. Thanks. I really think that based on his response to certain meds and not others that we have an issue with IBD, not just a food allergy. Who knows though.

Thanks again.

I agree with you that food allergy seems unlikely, based on the lack of response to the z/d. I would have expected the ultrasounds and biopsies you have had done for him to pick up lymphoma or IBD. But ( and I am not a specialist) once you have done the ACTH test , I really cannot think of anything you haven’t done that might lead to an answer.

I think with the ultrasounds, they were looking for obstructions and masses. Because he had crap in his stomach, I think maybe they got a little sidetracke.d My boy does love his paper products. The biopsy was clear at the anatamosis site this time, just like the one last year, but I guess I’m learning that lymphoma doesn’t always play nice and show itself well.

Still no call back from the vet here. I’m starting to think that I’m either a tremendous PITA and they don’t want to call me or they aren’t delivering my messages.

Thank you Marsh. I feel like I’ve done about everything possible. The ACTH will be our last check–although I think I’m going to have another giardia titer taken. I’m just not convinced.

Anyway…each day we can be “happy” and not have a mess in the house is something. SO I’ll take it.

Merry Christmas to us…2 poop free days in a row (in the house).

It will be okay. I am not giving up.

You have done so much BuddyRoo, more than a lot would have for sure. I do hope you’re able to get to the root of it. I apologize if my other post seemed unhelpful. I really did just think it was worth describing in case something might pop.

I apparently jinxed myself - ended up with a $500 vet bill today, a special diet, steroids, and apparently the girl was close to hospitalization status. Since she was happy and bright, doc thought she would recover better at home with Mom. Idiopathic at the moment, but blood work was fishy and needs a recheck in a week. Sigh. Merry Christmas to me!

Hope you get a few more accident free days.

KT, you weren’t unhelpful. It’s just a real PITA deal!

Even when you do all that you can, it’s no guarantee that you’ll get answers. I’m sorry you’re finding yourself in a similar boat right now. Isn’t that just the crap of it all? When you’re WILLING to put the time/money in, you get no diags. But when people won’t do it, they often get by on the first round of general abx or something. Figures. God protects the ignorant. The rest of us are just screwed (or at least that’s what I’m starting to think!)

We’re good here for now. I have two happy, tired pups. I’m going to go crawl into bed with a new Baldacci novel and cuddle up. We’ll see what tomorrow brings.

I wish you the best, KT. I don’t wish this “crap” (pun intended) on anyone!

I work for a skilled ultrasonographer, and thanks to her tutelage, I find IBD pretty easy to ID and she’s good at finding lymphoma. I know you’ve spent gobs, but maybe an ultrasound done by a radiologist might provide insight.

BR, Hope Santa brings you a clean floor in the morning, and may your New Year be solid and formed!!!
Vet should always call back, not doing so is very unprofessional. You are going thru a trying time with a pet you love, and you deserve some respect. Alot of respect!!! I’m sure everyone finds this situation frustrating, but you are doing your job, the vet should do his(hers). It seems like the vet should be the one researching/networking to find a way to help you and your dog. If he has hit a wall, then he is obligated to refer you to another practitioner who may have fresh insight. Hope things get better soon.

I’m sorry the Imodium wasn’t a magic bullet, BuddyRoo :frowning: I wish that there was one thing that would fix the problem, but I suppose the case is just too complicated for that, right?

Merry Christmas and a holiday toast to no-messes-in-the-morning!

Maybe poo-cleaning products can be crossed off the christmas list? Here’s hoping your guy is slowly getting back to normal! You are a saint for putting up with everything, he’s a lucky boy.

Marshfield, since we did the ultrasound at Michigan State, I’m pretty sure it was all done/evaluated by a board certified radiologist. But I can double check.

I have good news though! No overnight accidents for the last two days! Yay! Started the Endosorb last night. We’re going to a fellow COTHer’s house for Christmas dinner tonight so he’ll be home for a few hours. Will be a good test.

May you come home to a clean house.
