All horses have been rehomed and are in good hands. Devastated to lose the school.

So unfortunate. Some good horsemen came out of that school.

Very sad to hear of this news.

My alma mater :cry:

So sad to lose a place that really helped me become a better horsewoman.

Wonder what will become of the facility. It is fabulous, massive, and not old (built 2002 ish) but pretty much the middle of nowhere…

I could not even make this up…I got home from my trip to Minnesota to a fundraising ask from St Andrew’s dated April 14th.

You would think it is the middle of nowhere BUT the town has a Starbucks and a bunch of electric car chargers. And it is just 40 minutes to Southern Pines and probably 25 minutes to Carolina Horse Park. It has awesome fencing and a nice barn and those two decent sized covered rings. It will be interesting to see what happens.

That is kind of sad.

All of their horses were rehomed.

It’s very sad to me because a bright young woman I know would have been entering her senior year in Equine Business there and was a coach on the Equestrian Team. They gave such short notice to their students and I’m not sure what they’ll do next year because admissions is over in many colleges. Such a shame.

Did the students just find out when they made the public announcement in the last week or so??

When my alma mater tried to close in 2015, they sent out a short email announcing it (after having a public meeting on campus that same day). It was March, and the email said the college would be closing at the end of the semester (end of April/beginning of May). They blindsided everyone with that news.

So to answer your question- probably.

The students were called into an assembly last Friday morning and were told of the decision. The faculty and staff were laid off the day before. No warning.

WOW. :open_mouth::open_mouth::open_mouth:

That is really something.

I wonder how many of those kids had already signed leases for off-campus housing for next year, or what have you.

Wesleyan College in Macon, GA also recently cancelled its equestrian program. No notice, coach disappeared, no one could get answers until finally a letter appeared announcing that they were dropping equestrian for other sports. They’re looking for someone to run the facility.
