Stabling near Dressage at Devon / Shipping in from Texas

I am looking for advice on finding nearby safe stabling before/after competing at Devon. I have learned from this board that the least stressful way to bring my sweet sensitive horse is to ship him in a box stall in an air ride rig. The challenge is that the show grounds are not open to horses arriving before or after the show, and my shipper cannot bring my horse such a long way and guarantee arrival on Tuesday September 28.

If there are other rider coming from Texas we may be able to pinpoint shipping dates (so message me if you are going too!), otherwise I may need to find local stabling. My horse is sensitive and happiest with a friend (he is not clingy, just a worrier), so it would be amazing if he could stay with and travel with someone who is also going to Devon.

I have been a fan of Dressage at Devon since I first went as part of a Proud Meadows Friesian Exhibition in 1998. I have been back twice as a rider (FEI young horse and another exhibition), and many times as an E-scribe, but it has always been my dream to show in the CDI.

This year I finally have a wonderful horse that I will be proud to show in the small tour at Devon, so I am taking the plunge.

Thanks for reading! Feel free to message me if you don’t want to post here.

Does show management have any suggestions?

That’s definitely not an area I’m super familiar with regarding stabling, but if you haven’t already, maybe post this on the eventing forum, too. You say nearby, but do you have an idea of how many miles and/or minutes away from the showground you want to be? I’m sure you’re also flexible with that, all things considered, but it could help narrow down the search a bit. Best of luck to you! It’s great that this dream is coming to fruition for you.

I would also get into the Region 1 USDF facebook group (I don’t know that that’s the exact name, but it’s something that like that) and ask there.

I think COTH has helped me find the perfect place. Thank you all for the ideas and pms. I really appreciate it!
