The whole temp barn floor is raised “to protect the grass”.
Greenwich is an architecturally and historically significant site, and the idea of doing a lot of earth-moving was anathema to the city of London. They arranged all the venue–stabling and arenas–so that they didn’t have to dig into the ground at all.
