Staining Barn Interior

I did a search of this topic but the thread was quite old. I’m wondering if anyone can give advice on what products/brands of stain and polyurethane work best for staining the interior of a barn. I’m also trying to decide if the interior of the stalls should also be stained or if paint would be easier to manage for cleaning manure off the walls. Would that look weird?
The wood is currently unfinished and around 15 years old so I’m expecting to pressure wash and sand it. Other than being somewhat weathered, the stalls have hardly been used since being built.
I’m open to all advice and ideas.

js, your stalls are beautiful. I’m now thinking I should investigate the USEF discount at Sherwin Williams and see is it covers stains.

Do you know what kind of wood your stalls are made of? Some woods take stain better than others.

Do your horses chew the wood? If they do, be sure to use nontoxic products. If they don’t, I would try to determine if the wood was ever treated with a product to prevent chewing.

Won’t paint flake, or chip off?

I agree, js’ stalls are lovely!

Most of the barns I’ve worked out of have been painted. The paint was pretty durable. If it was just about easy care, I’d paint the whole thing. I’m drawn though, to the aesthetics of stained wood.
The barn has never been treated with anything at all. It’s only had horses in it for a couple months out of it’s 15ish years.
