Am I correct in thinking this fan
would be a better option than this fan

for use in a shelter that is not fully enclosed? (at the moment is pretty much just a roof)

first fan is “UL507 tested and rated for use with misting and fogging rings for indoor or outdoor use” which is a much harder testing standard to meet than the other fans ETL rating
Go with one that give the biggest CFM for the buck. Don’t worry about all the other jazz. If it is not going to be sitting out in the rain no worries.
“CFM is cubic feet per minute. It describes a volumetric flow of a substance. In the case of a blower or fan, it indicates how much air it can move per minute. A 125cfm fan can remove all of the air from a box that is 5ft x 5ft x 5ft in one minute (assuming vents allow fresh air to fill the vacant space).”
The first one gives CFM and price
The second doesn’t give either. So can’t tell you which one is a better bang for the buck.
Okay, thanks!
I have the 2nd fan in my horse’s stall and it can really blow. I only use the lowest setting and I’m in South Fla…
I think the first one is good because it has a sealed motor. I have 12 of them from TSC. They are not super high quality, but at $89 apiece, I can deal with replacing one or two a year. I also like the mount as it can be mounted in barn framing and directed.
Trying to figure out by the reviews…can this fan be rained on? Sounds like the OP and I have a similar set up…a roof but no walls. I would imagine that in a hard rain/thunderstorm, even though it’s under the roof the fan will still get WET. Is that ok? Hard to wrap my mind around something that is “waterproof” but plugged into an electrical outlet.
