Stall rest after injections?

Thank you! This would be more of a chronic issue although probably an acute injury at one time (We had multiple vets brush us off at the time…)

He definitely was only mildly sore prior to injection. I did notice today that it looked like he was wild in his run- one brand new bell boot was ripped off and the other was somehow up by his knee lol!! So I might start light hand walking or turn him out the next few evenings solo in a small pen for 30 minutes or so with me watching. Certainly burns and turns in his run is not going to help.

They said I can do light work next week (like walk and trot only, straight lines) and then resume what I deem as normal work after. We will play that by ear though.

Hmmm well he lives in an outdoor pen ( with shed) so certainly not too sanitary but it also isn’t very big (31 feet long.)

Today he seemed less sore so whew!

Well we ended pretty much keeping him in his pen but I did pull him out for hand grazing a few times. Last night I hand walked him for about 15 minutes in the arena, he was very chill about it. Today he was turned back out with the group. I was trying to get there before they got turned out to give him a little bit of a calming paste to take the edge off but I didn’t make it. But he was just out there grazing and wasn’t hot or sweaty so I’m assuming he didn’t go nuts. Whew!

He will be in light work the rest of the week and we will slowly be adding more into next week.

Editing to add: when I was going to try and start doing solo turnout or hand walking, we had a few days of rain that scrapped that plan. Oh well. Fingers crossed for him!
