Stall Water Bucket itching...killing buckets

Have a horse that squashes water buckets regularly by itching his ample bottom. He is on regular worming schedule and even facile tested. Recently power packed him for chance pin worms could be causing issue….still itching on buckets!

So any suggestions how to resolve the water bucket demise….maybe different types of water tub on ground….

Also if people use water buckets on the ground what type?

Thanks,

Steel bucket holders … screw to front wall of stall… bucket is held safely & securely but can be lifted in and out …no butt smashing !!!

Dover - Valley Vet … I use two per stall… ample water during summer months.

 • Mine go with me whenever I move or relocate…

ETA they make them for flat backed buckets and round buckets
five gallon buckets.

Would be worried he would even squash those…idk

Steel bucket holders ~ I’ve never had one even dented ! Purchased mine in 2003 … still in fine shape…

Have your farrier make one for you …

I have one that does that. Rubbing conditioner into her tailbone every couple of days seems to help.

National Bridle has the BEST ones !!!

National Bridle $19.95

Product #230022 … for round five gallon buckets

Product #230026 `` for flat backed five gallon buckets

Mine are 2003 models … still in use … relocate with me …

Where are you ???

Hell ! I’ll send you one !

Lower the water bucket - might take the fun out of it…

We have a habitual bucket crusher. He has boarded with us for years so we know his deworming schedule, lameness, health, bug/skin sensitivity (none to speak of), etc. We simply leave a crushed bucket in his favorite “leaning” spot. It holds about 1/3 of a bucket of water and we hang 2 other buckets for drinking water. We are fine to have him crush the old ones until they are no longer safe. Then we replace it with another old and dinged up bucket. So long as he has the one in his favorite spot, the others buckets are acceptable for drinking and not crushing.
