Hi everyone! I have a four year old stallion (Abdullah x Woldstreek) that I would like to get collected and frozen before he is gelded. He’s extremely quiet and well mannered, but has never been collected before. I contacted a couple Universities in/around Illinois (where I’m located), but the earliest he can get done is this fall and I’d really like to get this done as soon as possible. I’m willing to travel within reason. Thanks for any information!
Depending upon how far you want to travel, there is Equine Medical Services in Columbia, Missouri, Kathy and Jos in Oklahoma, and we do offer semen freezing, as well (but we are in western Missouri). I’m guessing there is going to be someone closer to you, as I know we have a lot of posters here from the Chicago area, or into Wisconsin.
Oconomowoc clinic has a good lab and a , not sure if they freeze. Tudor Oaks used to offer collection services, pretty sure they do not freeze.

I contacted Wisconsin Equine and their phantom training and collection fees were more than reasonable, but to freeze it was going to be an extra $5000-$6000 and wouldn’t be able to be done until late October. While I know this is going to be expensive, I was hoping the numbers wouldn’t get that high!
Thanks for the information, I wouldn’t mind traveling to Missouri if I can’t find somewhere closer!

One other you might check is Spectrum Horse Service in Elsie, Michigan. They trained my stallion to the phantom two years ago and froze semen for me. I was so happy with their service that he stands there for breeding and stays there when not in training.

I have had great success with Lodi Vet Clinic, near Lodi, WI., which is
very near Madison. They are professional and very experienced in the
ability to collect and freeze semen.
You could also try Rood & Riddle here in Lexington. Their freezing prices were quite competitive especially if your stallion is a high output kinda guy :lol: Facilities and personnel are top notch and I believe they are always available for freezing. Good luck!
