If height is a deal-breaker, you might want to think twice about breeding a mare that you consider ‘small’. You can buy a larger young horse with all the abilities you seek for less money and less risk.
JER. Height is not a deal-breaker for me, but I do appreciate your input.
Thank you for all the wonderful compliments. Concerto Grosso and I appreciate it
! He now has a son, Counterpoint, in CA who just packed his amateur/owner around her 1st CIC **. He has numerous TB cross babies that are just now starting to make a name for themselves in the event world. He was underused when he was younger as his barn mate was, Cicera’s Icewater, so there are not a lot of older offspring out there. I have 4 Icewaters who are lovely, but are more pro-rides than the CG’s tend to be. Concerto traditionally improves the temperament of the mares.
Groro. Thank you for your response. Concerto Grosso is my top choice as of now. I have looked at many different stallions and keep coming back to him. I love his way of going and he is such a handsome guy. I have heard great things about his offspring and am pleased to hear that he tends to have amateur-friendly foals.
The other stallions I have considered are E.H. Buddenbrock (though his stud fee is a little higher than desired), Inamorato (a Buddenbrock son), Roc USA, and Navarone.
I hope for the foal to be comfortable with prelim/intermediate.
