signed. And disgusted. I hope the media picks up more on this. If this happened in the states, it would garner a heck of a lot of attention as nobody here can stand animal abuse when it’s brought to the public eye. Could PETA get on this case? I don’t like PETA typically, but this sounds like something they could scream and holler about and possibly have some weight to swing about.

Good idea. I will talk to people heading this movement about mailing this to PETA.
I am also a bit surprised that not many COTHers have replied and signed. Maybe they have not seen this post yet. I hope everyone gathers to help us give an exemplary sanction to this man. We need signatures from all over because if our Federation doesn’t do anything (due to what I wrote on post #18), we will ask FEI for their help.
Thanks for the idea!
Please not P+TA- they are extremists who want to ban all horse riding.
They will use this for their agenda
Take it to Rate my Horse Pro if you want to reach horse people.
Okay, this makes me feel dumb, but where exactly on that website do we sign? I thought I could muddle my way through it, but was afraid to sign/log in to something else! Do I give the petition my ‘signature’ by filling out the bar on the right side of the web page?

I’m with Crockpot on this one, best to keep it away from PETA as they don’t need more fodder for their anti-horse use campaign. They may find it and use it anyway, but they certainly don’t need our help in handing it to them. It’s carriages and racing now, don’t think it’ll take too much effort to target show horses next.
RMHP and popular discussion forums probably a good bet.

Here is the link:
http://www.change.org/es-AR/peticiones/justicia-por-okidoki-z-carcel-para-jorge-martinez-esclarecimiento-por-la-muerte-de-okidoki
On the right, under “FIRMA ESTA PETICION” you see a box that says “nombre” (that is where your first name goes), “apellido” (that’s your last name) , “direction de correo electrónico” (that is where your email is written), then you can specify where you are from with the countries, under that is zip code (“código postal”) and last is the box where you write why you are signing or why it is important to you to sign (“Por que es importante para vos?”).
Then you click on FIRMÁ (SIGN) in the red box and your done. You can unclick under that if you don’t want to show your signature publicly (it just hides your name, it has nothing to do with your email or anything).
Thanks for taking a stand!

Ok. Note taken. Good call.
What is RMHP?
Thanks.
Okay - that’s where I thought, but just wanted to make sure I was petitioning for the right cause! Going there now…
Cross post in the Off Course section to reach a wider group. Perhaps the fact that your title doesn’t say the horse was killed. He shot the horse in a rage and let it suffer because he was inept. I think he’s a dangerous person. You are brave to take on this fight. Also because the story is in Spanish, it looses the impact. The video shows a lovely horse jumping , the audio probably tells the gruesome story.
The petition was difficult to fill out…but worth the effort. What an egotistical bastard!
I agree, Uphill - the instructions on how to fill out the petition helped me greatly. I was happy to join the petition - just needed reassurance I was filling out the document correctly!
I tried to open the petition and it says translate to English and it hit the button. It then says cancel or done. I hit done and its still in Spanish. This is on my Samsung galaxy 3. I can’t read it!

I’m sorry I can’t help you. I barely can handle my smart phone, which seems way too smart for me.
On post#26, there’s an explanation/translation on how to sign it without putting it in english. Try that and see if it works.
Thanks for your effort. We really need your support! We’d hate to see Okidoki die in pain as he did and this monster get away with it with a slap on the hand just because he’s “powerful” enough. No one is as powerful as the people. Together we can punish this horrific act with exemplary force.
Thank you once again.

Why not try to get the American media involved in some way? I’m going to go out on a limb here and make a guess that there are Americans who buy horses from this guy. Let’s not allow our dollars to go into his hands.
If you have a little time to put a translation to the video that would also be really helpful I think, even if it is a crude one. Not everybody speaks spanish and the audio is also not fantastic. We’re rooting for you, keep it up.

He’s not a pro. He rides with amateur status but has a breeding farm called Haras Las Heras. He’s hosting the first show of the season at his barn in April, which includes an auction of his horses. I truly hope no one assists or buys his horses. We will try to keep this in the public eye as long as we can so they remember what he did and who they are buying from/supporting.

Wouldn’t matter to me if he is a pro or an amateur…I still think the media ought to carry it.
Translation of the complaint letter…
This is the translation (as best as I could) of the claim letter sent from Mr. Cordoba to the Argentine National Federation (FEA). I will be working on the translation of the interview, although it will be a little difficult since the audio is a bit muffled.
Please sign the petition posted #9.
Thanks in advance for your support.
Messrs
Board of Directors FEA
AT .Pte Gabriel
Reference Killing and suffering of sport horse Okidoki Z
It is of public knowledge that the horse Okidoki Z has been massacred, shot dead by his owner simply because he threw the rider, attributing this criminal act to Jorge Martinez, who is indicted of other criminal acts, such as extortion, which would be enough on it’s own to ban him from our Federation.
May I remind you that art. 1 inc, c ) imposes the following:
c ) Sanction all rulings in activities included in inc, a) and the entities referred to in b ) and f), monitor compliance and oversee the conduct of managers, show organizers and participants in them.
I also must remind you that it is mandatory to act automatically, even in the absence of complaint, stating the following regulations :
ART. 78 -
On sanctions. Procedures: When the Board of the FEA has knowledge on complaint or on its own of facts or events that could cause the application of any of the penalties provided in Article 49, Section 4, including situations encompassed in Article 38th of the same text, you can:
- Send a written report of the complaint to the Disciplinary Committee, including all proof in its possession. The elevation of the complaint to the Disciplinary Committee is binding on the Executive Committee in the event of possible sanctions and federal entities in the cases of paragraphs e) and f) of section 4. Clause of Article 49th of the Statute.
I should assume that Messrs FEA are martians and have not heard of the killing of Okidoki Z by shotgun, or have not understood the language of so many people in the equestrian community who have been commentating this aberrant act, so I open a forum on my Facebook page and copy the link to the corporate site of the FEA to make sure they are aware of this situation.
To my surprise, in less than 24 hours my complaint was removed from your corporate site which is in itself an extremely serious fault, according to the advice of Swiss lawyers who lend me pro bono legal assistance.
With this background I specifically ask :
That Jorge Martinez be investigated as a suspect in the killing of Okidoki. Throughout the hearings and investigation, have his federation Rights suspended as well as federation Rights on his horses and breeding operation/barn.
The dangers of permitting him to continue with this sport is objectively clear since it was precisely while riding that Martinez fell and then shot his horse because of this.
Proposed proof
Have Jorge Martinez explain the whereabouts of the horse Okidoki Z
Summon the federated riders Kelly Collard Bovy, Andres Alvarez and Lionel Collard Bovy to testify.
Summon for testimony the President of Club Hipico Argentino and Mr. Hernan Mendez Cañas, both who have witnessed Martinez admitting to this crime.
I reserve the right to extend facts and evidence on this subject.
Having you erase my public denunciation only has made my way towards FEI easier, while this presentation does not mean my resignation in this quest, but the desire to show the world that most Argentines are decent people .
Finally, do what you have to do if you really want to comply with FEA-FEI maximum purpose, which is the well being of horses.
Regards,
Carlos Diego Cordoba
Haras Ambato
I hate that word “allegedly”. There are horriffic people in this world, many right here in the good ole US. The FEI should be involved, however, they will need something substantial for proof. If they would do this the owner, trainer ect must do other things that are bad and if you keep an eye on them you will eventually see something with your camera that the FEI can act on. For now this is the information age, you could go to every animal rights web site and speak up. Just be sure you have the truth.
UPDATE: Federation has imposed a suspension. FEI pressured with memo.
The Argentine Federation has temporarily suspended Jorge Martinez for 30 days to evaluate the situation and investigate the facts.
Here’s the link to their resolution:

Page 2:
https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=609233745816517&set=pcb.609233799149845&type=1&theater
According to the memorandum, they are asking
- that Mr. Cordoba, who originally denounced this act, ratify the claim;
- suspend Jorge Martinez for 30 days until sanctions are evaluated;
- designate Jorge Amaya and Alejandro Cima as members of the Board to instruct the procedures necessary to sanction according to rule #78 and #49-B-4
The FEI sent this message to make sure this was evaluated in depth and sanctioned according to the rules:
https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10201262870604907&set=a.1729978820393.2080686.1566160947&type=1&theater
I’m sure the FEI intervened thanks to everyone’s signature in the petition. Even though the procedures have started, please continue to sign the petition in post #9 so we continue to show our disgust. 30 days is nothing, but it’s not the permanent sanction. It’s time that will be used to evaluate. Once they put the facts together, the final resolution will be presented. This is why it’s so important to continue to sign the petition. This way, our governing members know how important it is for us to not let this go by lightly!
Thanks again to those who signed and to those who didn’t, please show your support! Thanks!
