STALLION KILLED BY CRUEL OWNER. PLEASE SIGN PETITION ON POST #9. UPDATE #40 SANCTION!

I’m am sorry to post this, and I know it has not even happened in your country, but it is important that we all revolt against terrible acts of cruelty in our sport, no matter where they are. I am embarrassed, to say the least, that this person is registered in our National Federation and owns of a breeding farm. I am embarrassed of how low a human being can go, leaded basically by his ego.

A few weeks ago a fantastic, beautiful stallion was allegedly shot to death by his owner and amateur rider because he refused and reared in front of an obstacle during training. This rider was thrown off and in a barbaric act, went to his car, got his handgun and shot the horse. Unfortunately, he did not die immediately but had to be put down later. All this supposedly happened in front of his trainer and rider at the farm belonging to said amateur.

As of now, a group of amateur riders are trying to make our Federation react against this act, to no avail. Unfortunately, he is a wealthy sponsor and multiple horse owner with varios pros in the ring, which makes things harder and slower. We are still working on trying to get written testimony of the act, although this man has admitted to the crime in front of Federation representatives. We have contacted FEI in regards to actions that should be taken by our Federation, although we have no response from them yet.

I surely hope that there will be severe sanctions against this person. This is not the type of co-competitor I want or need. This is not the type of breeder I would buy from. This is not the type of human I would like to be share the world with.

I am posting a beautiful round of the stallion (not ridden by his amateur rider but by a pro), as well as the letter sent to our Federation in regards to this savage act, although in spanish. I will try to translate it and post it in english if you need me to.

(scroll down, after five horse videos, since it was posted today. I am copying the spanish text below):

Señores
Miembros de la Comisión Directiva FEA
AT. Pte. Lic Gabriel

Disgusting.

How sad!! And totally disgusting that a rich egotistical rider can just kill another life because he is angry it didn’t do what he wanted. He needs to be banned from the FEI just like George Lindeman Jr!

And what a beautiful horse. Such a waste!

Unbelievable

I can’t read the Spanish letter, but good for you for speaking up against this heinous act. Beautiful horse.

Oki Doki? Was it Oki Doki? Shot? I don’t speak Spanish. Where can I get reports in English, please?

ETA. no, duh. Oki Doki died awhile ago.

Copy paste into Google and ask for translation

This breaks my heart. What a lovely horse. I wish you good luck in getting justice done. The more noise we all make, the better.

PLEASE SIGN THE PETITION!!

Unfortunately it’s not a hoax. I know the owner and knew the horse. Beautiful stallion.
Our National Federation has called a special meeting on the 13th to discuss the matter. It has been admitted by him to the president of the Club Hípico Argentino and to a Federation representative.

It has also been on the news last night. Here’s the link:

It is awfully true.
Please sign the petition.
Thanks.

Why is nobody writing about this? I’d expect this to be the talk of the town, all over the chronicle and all the big European horse Magazines. I’ve not seen a mention of it anywhere but a few local sites. Is it being hushed up or is it like all the other tragedies in the world, nobody cares that it happened just because it was in a different country?

All of the links that I could find on Google said that he was having surgery for a tendon issue, had complications and was taken to a Bern animal hospital were he died of septic shock.

One othe two stories is not true.

What is the owners/riders name?

LH, I think you may have been reading older stories about Albert Zoer’s fabulous Okidoki who died shortly after being sold several years ago. That was horrible, too. Then there is Okidoki, king of the Belgian 6 year olds, and also Okidoki Z, who was the victim mentioned here.

Thanks for the clarification

That reference is to Oki Doki, the horse that Jose Larocca rode in Europe, that used to belong to Albert Zoer. He pulled a tendon in Cannes Grand Prix. Here’s the video of that moment:

This stallion is called Okidoki (all together). He was a registered Zangersheide stallion and his Argentine Federation number is C19702/10. You can check this by entering the Argentine Federation website:
www.fedecuarg.com.ar
You go to the search bar for federations, under horses (“consultar caballo”), and type his name.

It has been on local websites, but not much else. It is hush-hush because Martinez is not only a big sponsor and breeder, but also a somewhat obscure businessman, friends with the government (specifically ex Minister of Commerce Guillermo Moreno), in the meat and slaughter business. He has been indicted for extortion and other shady attitudes. If you google Jorge Martinez-figorificos-Guillermo Moreno, many newspaper articles will appear on his activities.

Even though there has been a news interview on this (I posted it on post #12), the equestrian community here is very, very small. Tiny. I would say large million dollar sponsors can be counted with one hand. This guy is one of them. I would guess some professionals just don’t want to pick on a possible future sponsor? He already has various pros riding for him and one of his horses, Cachemir Z, was Reserve National Grand Prix Champion this past month.

Most of the outrage comes from amateurs. The Federation is taking their time with this and most of us are scared that due to political and economical pressure (he is also good friends with owners of Zangersheide Argentina that is also a large sponsor and registers multiple horses a year) this will end in a slap on the hand and small sanction. We are demanding more. Okidoki deserves more. This cannot be swept under the rug. That is why I am asking you to sign the petition.

Believe me, I am a long time COTH member and have many posts. This is not an alter.

Unfortunately, this is the real deal folks.

Please sign the petition. Thanks.
