Stallion Recommendations for Trakehner Mare

She is a longer toplined horse but it is not long enough to be considered a flaw. I am just trying to avoid any long backed stallions since I do not want to produce anything longer! I only have “action” shots of her but this is some idea of her conformation. Long backed but still very good conformation. http://pinterest.com/pin/318911217336007762.

Thank you everyone for all the suggestions!

Just as an aside, Dutch horses have not conquered eventing as they have jumping and dressage. The Dutch tend not to breed for eventing. I honestly can’t think off the top of my head of a top 4* horse who is KWPN. They are ranked 11th in the WBFSH studbook ranking for eventing. Their top eventer in the WBFSH rankings is 52nd and is a horse named Tivoli who is in the US with James Alliston. He’s doing quite well as a 3* horse, and is Guidam x Zacharia.

I have a Martini daughter. Mellow, mellow mare. She also is long in the topline. I tried to breed her to Schiffon but she is older and didn’t conceive. Her daughter by an Arabian stallion is in foal to Schiffon, due early May. I chose him for the shorter topline and I really liked his bone and Trakehner type. I did go see him and see him ridden.

The KWPN doesn’t really focus on Eventing as a discipline for the breeders. Their studbook is either focused on dresssage or jumping. But, there are those of us that like the all arounders that seem to do well in eventing. Right now the KWPN is #4 in Eventing so far this year according to the WBFSH Website. They’ve been in the #5 spot at the year end for 2011 and 2009. The Eventing FEI studbook rankings range quite a bit 2nd place and below as the warmbloods move into the rankings. The Irish Sport Horse has done the best overall. If you look at the sires in the rankings, it varies quite a bit though and many of them are unknown. Used to be it was mostly TBs. But, look there is a Jazz in there. Now who would breed to Jazz thinking of eventing? They are not usually good at jumping.

What about ramiro B he stands at harthill stud in the uk I’m sure he would be available in the US. He’s had so many great eventers and Showjumpers. Cooley horses are using him a lot & Oliver Townend says the ramiro b’s are the easiest, most rideable and trainable horses ever.

has been used on several Trakehner mares specifically to tone down the babies and make them more user friendly, as well as adding more bulk and substance to the foals

I do agree with other comments about TB blood not always adding “hot” to the equation. Its totally the opposite in many cases - the TB blood is added to smooth out and level out the overall temperament …
