VERY new to the breeding game, but we’re looking at breeding our Hanoverian mare via ET in 2025. She’ll be 7, and has done really well in the young horse program so far, and while I’m biased, I think she’s a very pretty type – tall and leggy and refined. She’s a huge mover and if anything a little hypermobile, so I think we’re looking for something with a little more joint stability. Super sweet, in your pocket kind of personality, with a great brain in terms of tolerating amateur mistakes that we’re keen to pass on to the next generation, with perhaps a touch less of the “but why?” instinct that creeps in sometimes. Fursten Look x St. Moritz. Baby daddy needs to be Hanoverian-approved with semen available in the US. Thanks in advance for your thoughts!
If I were in your situation, I would try talking to Mo Swanson or Barbara Schmidt. They are supremely knowledgeable and have been around a long time.
A friend of mine has a Fursten Look mare and she also has the but why instinct.
I have a Fursten Look gelding. He has the but why too. Just a little bit of it. Hoping he will grow out of it. Sorry I do not have any recommendations but your description is a perfect description of my Finn.
