Stallion shopping fun...

So I went stallion shopping… Who wants to try to guess where I was and who I saw??

Which one is your favorite and why?

(I’ll post names, ages and stud fees later if it doesn’t get figured out)

Is that Three Chimneys?

Definitely Three Chimneys. I lived near there many years ago and took one of my favorite pictures there when I was “stallion shopping”.

Anyone know who this is?

Yep, Three Chimneys.

In order of which ones you like, why?

Who is that PP?

Seattle Slew?

That is Three Chimneys:

1 - Exchange Rate
2 - Flower Alley
3 - Dynaformer (with his built in chain on his halter)
4 - Big Brown
5 - Point Given
6 - War Chant

We have a winner!!

I have stacks and stacks of pictures of famous horses from Midway and the surrounding area (I was there from 1988-1990). I need to get them scanned in one of these days…

I miss Lexington a lot.

Was your favorite #6? I think that would be mine (basing only on those photots- I did not look at other pics, pedigree, or video)

This is so cool! Big Brown is such a hunk! (Not a coincidence that in my mind at least this is what my guy looks like!) These boys have me drooling, for sure! I love my TBs! Thanks for sharing!

Swoon - I went to Three Chimneys during WEG - swoon - all of them

Exchange Rate and I don’t like greys but like him.

Swoon - I went to Three Chimneys during WEG - swoon - all of them

Was it really “shopping” or was it "window shopping?

4 and 6 are my first choices…gorgeous

Well, it was research for a few years down the road… That and so I know which foals to look at on the last days of the sales (when they are cheaper!)

1 & 6 are my two favourites with 6 being my first choice.

Big Brown: Nice solid looking horse. Linebred ND but does not look like ND confo…so that is a good thing.
Dynaformer: I would pass on the Ribot temperment he got and passes on.
Exchange Rate: looks butt high and front legs are too delicate for his mass
Flower Alley: though his front legs do look straight I would still pass on the linebred Mr. P.
Good Reward: Storm Cat over Mr. P…not my cuppa tea.
Lewis Michael: I liked the pedigree…until I looked at the confo photo…
Point Given: solid looking horse. Not a Mr. P fan on top but like his damside with Alydar.
Storm Giant: Storm Cat over Mr. P. Again. A little butt high but I like the way his neck ties in better than most of the other ones.
Sky Mesa: Storm Cat, Mr. P (again…there is a theme here!) plus AP Indy to improve the mix. I like his topline but looks like he has the Mr.P right foreleg.
War Chant: the everpresent Northern D and Mr.P improved upon with Kris S. Looks like he also has the Mr P right foreleg.
Yes Its True:yippee! Someone from bloodlines other than ND,SC and Mr. P!No glaring complaints on confo.

All in all my top 3 of the lot would be Big Brown, Point Given and Yes Its True.

and to contradict my complaints about not liking the overbred ND/Mr.P lines…I would still probably find room for a Not For Love daughter. I like his looks and I knew a girl that was an exercise rider for quite a few NFL offpspring and she told me they were lovely movers (she is also an event rider…so has “off track tastes” as well) and super minds.

They are all gorgeous. I picked 3 for some reason…then the comment above was about the Ribot temperament…I knew two Ribot sisters many years ago, and they were both rank to deal with…bucked like broncos. I thought it was just them…but they had great movement (when they weren’t dumping people) LOL…and amazing substance and conformation.

So what are you looking for in this purchase? Eventer?

Conformation & Pedigree for sport horse disciplines:

  1. Yes, Its True - clear winner here for me.
    2/3) Dynaformer or War Chant
  2. Big Brown
  3. Flower Alley (I’d like to put him higher, but double P would likely see leg issues future generations).
