Stallion to complement an "old fashioned" mare?

I’m re-posting this topic because a lot of threads I’m finding are a few years old (or many years old!) and the stallions suggested are not in the U.S./gelded/deceased/etc!

Here’s the short and sweet of it:
“Old Fashioned” American Warmblood mare.
Looking for a stallion that will complement her and shorten up her topline and refine her head, she is a bit on the stocky side!
Budget of 1k, looking for fresh-cooled semen only.

Have been set on TBs and lighter warmbloods, even TB x Warmblood crosses.

Ready, go! Thanks for any suggestions in advance!

What kind of horse are you hoping to get? Dressage? Eventing? Hunter? Jumper? Trail?

Hard to recommend anything without knowing your goals for the foal.

My stallion, “Argosy”, is standing in Oklahoma at Avalon Equine, which is also a superb equine reproduction facility (equine-reproduction.com) and is quite refining.

He was highly popular in his day with lots of successful offspring, mostly in the hunter/jumpers (but he was also an excellent in dressage). He is very prepotent, especially putting on a pretty head and lovely topline.

One of his daughters, who was registered American Warmblood (because 1 member of the mare’s lineage was missing so she couldn’t be registered GOV) won numerous breeding class championships and went on to be one of the top young hunters in the country.

He turned 20 this year, but is still going strong, and available for breeding, though I have stopped marketing him aggressively.

There is video of him under my signature. Also, exceptional conception rates.

If you have an interest in him, I would contact www.equine-reproductions.com. He’s in your budget too.

slight correction; i believe the website is actually http://www.equine-reproduction.com/Stallions/StallionStation.shtml without the s at the end of reproduction. Argosy is lovely, by the way!

Not to side track but Baatesh is lovely (scroll down on the same page)… Now I’m all curious about him…

Thank you! I’m so bad about typos. Thanks for the correction.

Check out Guaranteed Gold - he will tick off all the boxes for you … 16.1hh cremello TB stallion

www.TrueColoursFarm.com

Depending on what her actual breeding is, you can see some examples of his foals out of a variety of WB mares at:

http://www.truecoloursfarm.com/guaranteed-gold---csha-foals.html

Good luck in your search!

I like Argosy. Guaranteed Gold, I would not use in this case as he can produce heavy, even on tb mares. I would really look at Vallado and relatives (and his approved son). I would also strongly look at Fielding (love this horse) and Hunter; I think that the Holsteiner stallion Canterbury would also be worth a look.

Well - I wouldn’t say that Guaranteed Gold produces “heavy” at all Katis. Quite the contrary really … … but that’s why its nice to provide links so people can see for themselves and then decide if what is being produced out of a wide variety and type of mare is what they are looking for in their foal …

Look up “Friend or Foe” by Friends Lake. He is a TB who is available to sport horse breeders.

Outstanding pedigree, good race recoed and he can jump!

PS: I am not associated with the horse or people, I just like him as an individual.

Truecolours I did see your links and have really liked some of his offspring. What you should be posting is pictures of the dams as well as the offspring to illustrate that your stallion does refine. Some of the links just show foal pics, some show older offspring. I stand by what I stated, his offspring can be tanks and if the mares are the tanks and the offspring are tanks, then he is not a refiner. Not every stallion can be everything.

Okay Katis - here are a few examples …

http://www.truecoloursfarm.com/broodmares.html - scroll down to Pearlescent. She IS a “tank” of a TB mare …

http://www.truecoloursfarm.com/broodmares.html

Her foals by Guaranteed Gold can be seen at:

http://www.truecoloursfarm.com/guaranteed-gold---cremello-tb-foals.html (Luminescent)

and: http://www.truecoloursfarm.com/guaranteed-gold---smoky-cream-tb-foals.html (Titanium and Palladium)

Draft cross foals - http://www.truecoloursfarm.com/guaranteed-gold---draft-cross-foals.html (Mitzi can be seen with her dam at the CSHA inspection. Koltron can be seen with his Percheron dam. And the grey filly at the bottom can be seen with her full Percheron dam.

All of the youngsters on: http://www.truecoloursfarm.com/guaranteed-gold---csha-foals.html - are shown with their dams

So - it does give a good representation of dams with foals in most / all of the pictures …
