"Stallions don't belong at horse shows"

I don’t agree with it. The only time I’ve ever even been around a stallion is when I interviewed to volunteer at a barn and they boarded a stallion. He was kept in a stall 24/7, all parts of the door closed and enclosed sides.

I felt quite sorry for him. I never went back, they said you had to watch him or he would attack and I didn’t feel safe. I had even less experience than I do now.

I remember thinking he might not be as unhappy if he got to live like a horse.

I’ve been blessed to have a number of spectacular stallions in my life. I love them and they’re amazing but I certainly understand that there are people who just can’t put away their ego long enough to really appreciate them.

many years ago, I took my one of my saddlebred stallions to the Devon horse show to compete in the combination class. We were in the lineup, and a young man was lined up to my right. His mare kept squatting and peeing. He looked at me, quite embarrassed, and said,” I just don’t know why she’s doing this! She’s never done this before!“

I looked at him and smiled and said,” Well it could be because she’s in the season, and this is a stallion.“ The kid turned sheet white and moved out of the lineup to another place. My stallion has never said a thing, didn’t drop, and was a complete gentleman. But that mare thought he was hot!
