Started the Breeze litter box system today

Yeah, the pricing is totally nonsensical.

They don’t really seem to make pee pads smaller than 11x17 which is what the breeze takes. But at $0.75 each, I can replace them every day or every second day. We’ll see if that helps.

Her old litterbox was deep with high sides and no cover.

I think if I put back out a traditional litterbox with traditional litter, she will go back to using that for everything and not use the Breeze at all.

How about something like a puppy pad cut in half on top of a regular pad? The puppy pads are 22 X 22, so you’d have 11 X 22, And at 100 for $17.00, that’s 8.5 cents each half pad.

I think the breeze box is only 11x17 in dimension, but maybe I could cut into smaller pieces to just drape a little

Hum, you could cut in half and it would mostly fit. I wonder if it hold urine like the Breeze pads does. You can pick that thing up by a corner full of urine and it doesn’t drip.

Last night I did half a breeze pad in the “pee zone” on top of a full breeze pad. It caught last night and this morning’s pees without any issue and I replace the dirty “half pad” with another half. I ordered those cheaper pads from Chewy. If this makes her happy, this is no biggie. I actually like the idea of cleaning more often, and since she only ever pees in one spot, there’s no point in replacing the whole pad when a half pad can capture it. Now… let’s see what happens tomorrow when a poop is due again

My cat only pees is one spot too so I just pull the drawer out and put it back in facing the other direction.

I was doing that but if her objection is the smell, turning the pad/drawer doesn’t fix that

…and…

She pooped on the floor.

Trying cat attract litter additive. And then trying removing the lip around the breeze.

If that doesn’t work, going back to the old box and clumping litter. I love the breeze. Unfortunately it appears the feeling may not be mutual.

FYI- the cheaper pee pads are way way thinner/less absorbent as compared to the ones made for the breeze. With my “cut in half and daily change” plan they’tr fine, but if you were going to leave them in for a while week as tidy cat recommends, I’m not sure these would be absorbent enough.

The Cat Genie gets really good reviews and it actually hooks up to your toilet to wash the pellets itself and dump the waste.

Today she peed on the floor (with clean pads in the breeze and cat attract litter additive sprinkled in there). So I guess that’s it for the breeze.

And peed on the floor again AFTER the traditional litterbox came back. If the breeze has now created some permanent refusal to use the box I’m going to be so distraught.

Wipe up the pee and put the paper towel in the box, then put her gently in the box so she can feel the footing is different. See if that helps.

You can’t wipe up pee from carpet :frowning:

she’s a 16 year old cat with kidney/thyroid disease. She’s very arthritic and set in her ways. She lies in bed, eats/drinks, and (previously) uses the litter box. That’s it. And I changed one of those 3 and she didn’t like it.

She understands the breeze, she just doesn’t like it and she’s telling me that in escalating ways. She had been peeing in the breeze for a week and a half before she started peeing of the floor. She understands it’s the litter box but for whatever reason she doesn’t like it and she doesn’t want to use it.

now I’m concerned she’s been holding it and either given herself a uti or else decided the carpet is better/easier. Because I think the volume of pee went way up during this period. So she gets to go to the vet. Yay, just what a scared, elderly, stiff cat wants.

cursing myself for trying this damn thing :(:(:frowning:

Don’t be so hard on yourself, my 18 year old cat with the same health issues pretty much pees in any sort of litter so I wouldn’t have thought twice about it. At least mine poops in the bath tub when I close the door to the litterbox room on accident.

Thanks, I just feel terrible that I made her uncomfortable

When my elderly cat didn’t want to walk across the house to the litter box, we put the litter box 6’ from where she slept and that fixed it. I feel for you. Old pets are are a blessing but tricky sometimes with what they want.

Took her to the vet, she has a UTI and got a shot of antibiotics

hopefully she she feels better soon

thanks for asking

Oh yeah! I guess, lol A cause that is fixable is great though. I wonder if she thought her urine smelled funny and that was the issue.

Ok washed the pellets for the first time today. I dumped the used (turd free of course!) pellets in a mesh laundry bag with a zipper and put it in a sink of scalding water with dawn dish soap and let it soak for about an hour. Swished it around well, dumped the water then rinsed and put the pellet filled bag on the back porch to dry. I will report back after they have thoroughly dried. I like the Breeze pads though. Really absorb smell and hold a lot of liquid in a gel state. I will report back when they are dry.
