Steam brush for grooming?

I saw an advertisement for the Chevaroo horse steam brush and was wondering if anyone had experience with these? I’m basically looking for a better way to clean my mostly gray horse during winter since there’s no hot water available. I’m hoping it could also be helpful for spot cleaning at shows. I found what looks like the exact same product on Amazon for a lot less but was hoping to hear some specific reviews on well these work for horses. Before seeing the ad I didn’t even know a horse steam brush was a thing

I don’t know about their product, but I have a bissell pet groomer kit. It’s essentially a carpet cleaner for pets. It works REALLY well. You put warm water in one side and it washes, soaps, and vacuums up the water from your horse. I have hot water in my wash stall now, but I still use it on really cold days when I want to make sure my horse is dry as soon as possible.

This sounds amazing. Can you get them totally dry with it? I often run out of time to bathe before the sun is too low and then they take forEVER to dry. :weary:

Since it’s steam I don’t think it would get them very wet. The one I’m looking at is basically a small brush the produces the steam. If the horse was damp or too wet I think a cooler would take care of it.

I don’t understand how it’s called a steam brush when it doesn’t heat the water. I went to look it up because I was concerned about how actual steam could possibly be safe. Oh, it’s safe because it spits out the water at whatever temperature you put the water in at, it doesn’t add any heat at all, it’s not actually steam.

Can you post a link to this?

It seems it’s really a “misting” brush. The “steam” is the temp of the water you started with

Agreed, seems like a gimmick to me.

One fairly cheap alternative if you don’t have access to hot water at your barn is to buy an electric tea kettle that heats up water pretty dang fast while you’re knocking off the major mud. You then pour the water into a bucket and use clean towels/cloths to do a like a modified hot toweling (obviously not soaking them and ensuring it’s not too hot before using). My friend has done this for multiple winters and it works really well.

That little brush would never work on my minis coats . I can’t see how it would do any more than just skim the top layer of coat. I’ve done the hot toweling and it works great.

I saw the same ad on Facebook the other day. It’s not worth it. Those are dropshipped at a ridiculous mark up. Look up pet steam brush on Amazon and you can find identical ones for $10!

I tried to find it and it looks like the discontinued it. Too bad because it works really well!
It was called the bissell barkbath. There seems to be some knockoff versions of it on Amazon.
