Steel Saddles

Does anyone have a Steel Saddle, if so which one and how do like it? For everyone else, what do you know or heard about them. Thanks…

Its Steele saddles by Custom Tree and saddlery. There are many different models .I have had several but they won’t work on a quarter horse as the tree is narrowit usually fits gaited horses.
A extremely comfortable saddle . They will work with you to make sure it fits your horse. I believe it would be heavy for endurance but a great trail saddle.

Oh …darn! Thats what we have…Qh’s and one is very wide in the back… the search is on…

My husband had a Steele that he really liked but it wasn’t comfortable for me. I personally like Tucker Saddles; I have the Equitation Endurance model which comes with English girth and stirrup leathers but it’s also available with Western or “Trail” rigging. On my current horse, a KMSH, I use a “regular” tree but on my former QH mare I used a wide. Here’s a website: http://http://www.tuckersaddlery.com

Steele is a good company with a good product.

One nice feature they have (or at least used to have) was a robust “test program.” You tell them what you want and they will send you a saddle on trial. It will be a “beater” meaning you can actually ride it and test it under “real world conditions” without worrying about getting it “scratched up.” Then, if it works, you can have one built to your specs. If it doesn’t, they will send you a different one until you get one that does (you, of course, pay the shipping both ways  ).

I’d not reject the Steele out of hand for a QH.

They are very well made saddles.

They will send you a tree with leathers and stirrups . You can take pictures with the tree on and off the horse and with you sitting on the horse. Send them the photos and they’ll tell you if it fits.I didn’t describe that very well but basically they will work with you to get a good fit for horse and rider.
I haven’t liked the Tuckers , the gel seat is hot and uncomfortable, most saddles have a wide twist and now they’re owned/made by Circle Y.
Currently riding a 30 +yr. old semi-quarter horse tree, cricle Y thats the only saddle that fits my mutton withered mare. she loves it, kills my butt.LOL
