Steffen's Shadbelly

Anyone see that? Instead of buttoning down the middle, it has a flap over the middle that velcroes to the side. I don’t know if I like the look of it–sort of leaves a blank spot in the middle of the body instead of a column of buttons down the center.

And then he had black tabs at the bottom.

I believe it was written a while back that it came from GPA, one of his sponsors.

He was reluctant to wear it because he’d been wearing the same coat since he was 16 or so for luck. But he’s gotten some of his best scores in the new coat.

Here’s one article

Oh yeah, I remember him talking about the coat at the World Cup. (I was lucky enough to be in on the press conferences.

I’m all for trying new things, but I don’t know if I like this style.

OMG, yes!

This makes my thing about only showing in white shirts a little less weird. Like I have Steffen Peters’ track record and all, you know.

But if his 30 year+ shad wasn’t actually as lucky as he thought, that kind of (logically) dashes my bizarre superstition.

I liked it, I knew nothing of it but liked the clean look of the front and the lay of the fabric. Watching him ride, it looked nice to me.

I think he looks pretty good in the polo further down the page in that one link…

I think that coat is fugly.

I like your answer.

I thought it was cool.

Cool as in hip, not chilly.

I think he deserves a gold medal just for being able to fit into clothes from 30 years ago. If only I could say the same.

I don’t care for the looks of the new coat, why can’t they just add a row of fake buttons to the center of the jacket, giving the appearance of a more traditional coat but the convenience of the velcro closure.

Did you know rider heights and weights are on their profiles? Anyway - I think that jacket harkens to a straight jacket. Hahahaha

I read the story about his lucky jacket somewhere & it was really endearing. His parents bought it for him, and every time it needed a repair, his mom fixed it, all those years, until he finally hung it up.

Exactly what I said to myself when i saw him the other day! I understand a zipper or velcro being so much easier than actually buttoning the darn thing, but I missed the look of the buttons.

You and me both  !!!
