Stifle Issue?

Yesterday’s ultrasounds revealed a tear in my mare’s middle patellar ligament. The vet and I are confident this is the cause of our issues, as it fits the puzzle for why my mare acts the way she does. She is going to be getting stall rest, PRP, and shockwave therapy to help with the healing process. So glad to finally have a solid game plan for recovery after almost 6 months of searching for answers!

I truly appreciate everyone’s help and info! I have learned a lot from this post, and from this whole experience in general.

Aw, OP, I am sorry. That does suck. I like your plan of action though. So glad you did that u/s and looked at the stifle more closely. Jingles for a good recovery. Please keep us up to date throughout the progress. I would love to hear a good story at the end of all of this.

Thank you!! She is on day 3 of stall rest, and doing fine so far. She is very mellow horse so I’m praying this will be a fairly easy recovery process. We’re considering making her a temporary stall in the pasture so that she can graze and be in the sun (:
The vet is coming next week to do the PRP and first shockwave treatment!
