Stirrup help...

So I bought this saddle and I love it. It is comfy and fits well At least on the chair when I sit in it, I haven’t gotten on it yet on my horse. However, I do not like the stirrups or the ‘leathers’ twice they have fallen off.

What can I replace them with? I do like endurance stirrups, and I have some, but I think they are a bit clunky, so maybe some english type endurance stirrups?

Are there special leathers? Or will english leathers work?
How can I secure them and keep them from coming off?

I replaced the Australian stirrup leathers with English leathers and added the English stirrups, believe they’re called peacock irons for safety. It worked well for me but you’re mileage may vary… Good luck!

I would contact the company. The leathers shouldn’t fall off. That’s a big safety hazard.

They certainly aren’t leather, they are nylon cheapy ones. I am not surprised.

I put the English leathers on that I had from my english saddle and now the issue is the buckle is right under my leg and is very uncomfortable.

Here’s what I’ve done to get the buckles out from under my thigh. Hang the leather “upside down” - have the buckle down by the iron, with the buckle itself on the side of the iron -away- from your foot. (This means the extra length of the leather is away from your leg)

So now, the extra length is flapping around. You can use a fleece tube to contain the whole leather, which also reduces “pinch” to your leg. Or find a bicycle inner tube of the right diameter to slide over all three layers of the leather. This option is probably not so good for a real leather saddle.

I have that saddle. I replaced the stirrup “leathers” and stirrups with Wintec Webbers and Fillis stirrups. Works much better and you don’t have the problem of having a buckle under your thigh like you do with regular English stirrup leathers.

That ia a great idea… hanging them upside down… and I made my own fleece covers the other night out of an old polar fleece pull over.

Thanks No Such, I will take a look at that option.

Polar fleece should work and be less bulky! let us know how/if it works for you
