Stirrup leather measurement

embarrasing pony club fail - I’ve never actually bought stirrup leathers in over 30 yrs of riding, buying used saddles they always seemed to have a set on them. Is the length the store lists them at the literal length or is it some weird archaic thing like the length to the first hole plus the king’s shoe size?

It will be the literal length from top of buckle to the very end - stretched out, not doubled or anything fancy like that.

thanks!

For a close contact (hunter jumper) saddle, standard adult size is 54 inches. Dressage saddles have mor size options but typical adult length is 60 inches.

I thought length is measured from hole 1 to the buckle. But I could be wrong.
