What are everyone’s favorite stirrup leathers that are easy to adjust from the saddle? I currently have Prestige ones that I hate. Yes they are fancy & have worn well but I loathe them. I have a new Black Country saddle with calfskin seat & knees but I opted for regular leather on the flaps so do I even need calfskin leathers? They are so soft & my tall boots have worn extremely well so that’s also on my mind. Do I need nylon lining? I can barely adjust these things from the ground with the BC saddle. I tried a pair of Bevals that were equally as horrible.
These! https://klselect.shptron.com/p/kl-stirrup-leathers?pp=8 Have used them for years. They last forever, are easy to adjust, and are just straight up uncomplicated. I hate lined leathers, and especially hate calf leathers, but am stuck with them for my calf saddle. The Antares does just fine with these.
ETA Until I got my calf saddle (first and last!), I never saw any need for calf leathers - or lined leathers, for that matter. The KL - and before that Crosby or Crump or something - have never rubbed my non-calf saddles. Calf is a different story - sooo pretty; sooooo annoyingly fragile. I’m going t try my KL leathers on it anyway, now that they’re broken in, to see if I can get away with it. Never noticed any wear on my boots from them.
Those really are very nice. Want half-holes.
Yup, half holes and rotate every month or so.
What about some cheaper ones? I need a few pairs for my lesson saddles.
