Stirrup Leathers that buckle at the bottom?

Anyone other than Webbers or Total Stability offer leathers that buckle at the bottom? I ride in the synthetic webbers now but they squeak in a very annoying way. I know you can get them in leather as well, just wondering what else is out there.

https://stubbennorthamerica.com/prod…rrup-leathers/ I love the Stubbens, very soft leather. They have a textile core and do not stretch. If you do some googling you can get them for around $100.

You can buckle any leathers at the bottom and add a leather sleeve to keep them from popping open

I just got a new pair of dressage leathers by Gary Mundy (https://www.facebook.com/GarysLeatherShopLLC/). They’re actually my third pair from him. My first pair would still be going except I switched saddles and they were too long on the new saddle. My second pair were going great until I found a deep crack at one of the holes. Completely my fault because they get heavy use and I’m not the most meticulous at maintaining my tack. Taken care of properly, they’ll last forever. And price was $65 plus shipping. Can’t be beat!

Those stubben leathers are drool worthy! I’m going to have to do some research! I love the ones with the nylon core so they stretch less. Thank you!

I second Gary Mundy Dressage leathers! They’re amazing and mine still look new after a few years. $65 and they’re customized with my initials on the little fenders that cover the buckle.

I have Presige leathers, Frank Baines and also Bates leathers. I’ve liked them all, will never go back to traditional leathers

I really love my Wintecs. I bought them because they are much thinner, less bulk under my leg and they also are easier to get on and off the saddle. My old Albion had the worst stirrup bar, it was almost impossible to get regular leathers off without a tool under the bar to lift it a bit. I am trialing another Albion, and it seems to have the same crazy thing with the stirrup bar. My leathers will slide right on and off, though. I have not noticed any stretch with mine, I have been using them for years.

CobJockey, I saw your blog post on the Gary Mundy Dressage leathers and they looked lovely! I’ve got a couple regular leathers from him and I think they are amazing… I’m wanting to give the dressage leathers a try but was concerned by your comment that the holes were made so you couldn’t adjust them longer… did you find a remedy for the situation?

I have Stubbens and Gary Mundy’s, and I love them both.

Haha, my remedy is that I took a Mary Wanless clinic and she shortened my stirrups two holes and changed my life forever .

I do wish Gary had made them with “my” hole more in the middle rather than at the end, but it’s not a big deal, especially since I’m now three holes up from the bottom. I am planning to have another pair made before he retires and I’ll make sure to ask that he does that.

Non stretch $49.95 ; https://www.ridingwarehouse.com/Ovat…age-OWASL.html

Ah! lol Awesome, glad it worked out!! Ya, he basically asked me to only supply the requested measurement on the order form with no additional information, so I’m hoping it will all come out ok… I don’t want a LOT of room to go longer, maybe only 1 or 2 holes… but I was afraid to push any farther since I had already seemingly put him into information overload trying to explain how I wanted the holes… lol

BTW, I’m enjoying your blog… we’ve just recently purchased a Welsh Cob mare, just under 14h, for my daughter… she’s green but has the best mind, a SAFE and satisfying project for a youth rider!! Such versatile beasties!!

Yayyyyy Welsh Cob fans! Your daughter is so lucky to grow up with one. They are so smart and have such a strong sense of self-preservation for both themselves and the rider - for better and sometimes for worse
